Peter King is an idiot, Part 3245678

I think King thinks highly of Baltimore--ranking them 5th for whatever reason--so by extension a win by Denver is impressive in his mind.

I'm not sure I agree. I think the Baltimore D will continue to be very good, they seemingly always are, but on that side of the ball Manning looked awful, and they just lost Suggs for the season. And I just don't think the Baltimore O is at all SB caliber. Who, exactly, will be catching Flacco's jump balls this season? Forsett is a decent back but not 'Ray Rice in his prime' good. The O-line looks meh. I'm just not impressed, am I missing something?

The entire list is bad, but the Ravens at #5 gives you an idea why he has Denver at #1. Pittsburg outside the top 15 is another head-scratcher, they haven't fixed their defensive woes but starting week three, with Bell back, that offense will be scary good. That combination won them the division last year, I think they're definitely among the 15 best in the league right now.

Just as an aside: 7 of the top 9 are AFC teams. Admittedly the list is garbage, but that stacked NFC from the past half decade is no more. Some very good squads in the NFC but we're far removed from the GB/SF/SEA three-headed monster of a few seasons ago.
Yep.

Neither BAL or DEN is a SB contender this year. Yes- I said that.

Not to sounds arrogant but all the Pats need to do is stay healthy, hungry and improve on D.

Not trashing the defense (it was impressive), but you are not going to win a lot of games when your offense is scoring you 9 points a game especially when 6 of the points came off of 50 yard plus field goals in Denver.

I don't have a problem with Denver being in people's top ten, but this is a QB driven league. And whether it is Manning is done or Kubiak's system is wrong for him or both, the Broncos are going nowhere with Manning playing like he did on Sunday even if this Broncos' defense rivals the 85 Bears.
I said in another thread that Manning looking like trash had nothing to do with Kubiak's offense. He picked up right where he left off in 2014. The time has simply come. His play is the difference between a one and done in the wild card (which is where they're heading, IMO) and a Super Bowl appearance. Their defense will carry them in a lot of games but Manning can no longer drive the ball. Defenses know this and are game planning accordingly.

Agreed that instead of complaining about Patriots fans being mad, King should think about why we're mad

Maybe it's because:

  • The jets flunkies working in the NFL conspired with Patriots' rivals to set up a bogus sting operation on the Patriots
  • The jets flunkies then put out false information from the failed sting which set off a public firestorm against the Patriots
  • The failed sting operation dragged Brady's name through the mud and forced him to spend his off season in court
  • The NFL took draft picks (again) from the Patriots for no reason
  • The NFL continues to have their puppet station ESPN report unproven deflamatory stories about the Patriots
  • The entire saga has attempted to diminish the accomplishments of the players and coaches of one of the greatest franchises in NFL history
So, sorry that we're a little angry, Peter

Yup.

This won't win many friends here, but I tend to like Peter King's work.

That piece yesterday was 100% clueless, however. Mr. King evidently was tone deaf to what New England fans had to be fed for 7 months.

Yesterday in his MMQB article, he wrote "I was born in Springfield, Mass., and lived the first 18 years of my life over the border in Connecticut, in a town called Enfield, just north of Hartford. So I’ve got some New England in my blood. And I get why the region loves the Patriots, a franchise that has brought so much pride to a six-state area. But the venom I heard and felt last midweek, in town to cover the Patriots opener, was over the top. It’s football. It’s not a war."

Oh really, Peter? You 're bothered that football fans are upset that their team's championships have been questioned and their HOF QB and coach have been labelled cheaters because of lies, anonymous sources, and false reporting?

In January he reported that he was “told reliably that . . . either 11 or 12 of New England’s footballs . . . (I hear it could have been all 12) had at least two pounds less pressure in them. All 12 Indianapolis footballs were at the prescribed level. All 24 footballs were checked by pressure gauge after the game. All 24 checked at the correct pressure.”

I realize that he has apologized for his errors and mostly come around, but perhaps he should be as upset as the fans for being used and lied to. Perhaps, he should realize the bigger story is who fed him those lies and why.

The NFL and their propaganda machine, led by ESPN has systematically lied and misled the public in an all out effort to ruin the careers and legacies of Belichick, Brady, and the Patriots franchise, that's not "just football." While "war" is definitely a flawed analogy there is no question that these have been vicious and borderline criminal attacks and should be treated as such by the people they lied about and those who support them. Peter King can dismiss them all he wants, I know that's what I do whenever he opens his piehole.

Stay healthy- one can only hope and pray
Stay hungry-Butlers compete level shows that's not an issue
Improve on D-They always do.

These guys are so ridiculous. They outright call someone a liar and try to ruin them with false accusations, then when people get upset and call them for their ******** they go "What I do?"

KC will drop 30 on them at Arrowhead.

I am in the camp that is BOTH Manning's decline and Kubiak's offense. Manning at this stage of the game needs to be in the shotgun almost exclusively. A lot of the bad throws were because he just doesn't have the arm anymore. Others were because he was not able to step into the throw like he likes to because he is on the move.

Granted Peter King is not as an idiot as Walter at Walter Football who has dubbed Tom Brady as a "rotting corpse" who is done and can do nothing but throw check downs. And his performance on Thursday was "check down after check down" and not impressive. He ranks the Patriots 9th and brings up the cheating scandal that was proven wrong.

He is so butt hurt over Brady winning in court that he is throwing away any credibility he had to trash Brady.

Here is what Walter wrote about the Pats:

Who or what the hell is Walter football?

After a morning where the whole country has poles of "is Peyton done?" Ha ha, too funny, at times he was throwing helicopter balls that you would expect your 7 year old son to throw out in the backyard.

As for Brady? 4 TDs, 288 yards. 3 rooks on the oline. Yawn, unimpressive lol. My lord, what is this world coming to?
I hear ya, but I would so much prefer it to be this way, where the Pats get overlooked, than everyone singing their praises in September.

The Pats are the reigning champs. Seattle got beat.

The Pats beat arguably (very arguably, given that Denver/Baltimore mess) and the continuing softness/decline of the Colts) the second best team in the AFC, up 14 with less than 10 seconds to play.

Meanwhile, teh Packers beat a mediocre Bears team by 7, and were losing for much of the game.

Ergo, it's a no-brainer, if you're doing a power ranking right now, the Pats
are, PERIOD, number 1.

Until the SB champs are beaten, they are number 1.

This is literally just some guy named Walter with a website. My favorite is when he claims his "sources" told him something about the draft.

Has anyone ever feared a Wade Phillips coached defense?

I tried to make that argument on another forum prior to the start of the season, it didn't go over to well.

Who or what the hell is Walter football?

He used to do a decent free agency tracker and analysis and has been quoted on this board a lot over the years. I guess I gave the guy too much credit in the past. He does come off as a real yahoo here.

Broncos defense is the same as last year, when they were also very good. No one acknowledged it because that would change the narrative that Manning IS the team.

Isn't that the same Broncos defense that Brady shred last year?

They seem to have improved, not sure if it is b/c of different head coach, or they are at peak health right now, but they looked *really* good. So even if they are the "same" personnel wise, they didn't look the same. Though admittedly I didn't watch them much last year except in their losses. :)

As I said in my last post, his site used to be good to get free agent pick up analysis, mock drafts, etc. Now he has been exposed as a hack.
