ESPN Staffers Threatened Over Deflategate

You know if you are a public figure and give the whole world access to you through Twitter then....

Let's just say people will say mean stuff. Unless it's a serious threat, who gives a damn. There's 300 million Americans, all it takes is one person with Twitter or email. it's never going to change, there will always be people who say stuff. I'm so tired of hearing about it, nobody cares if your feelings are hurt. Stop looking a Twitter if it bothers you.

ESPN still wants to smear the Patriots and continues to try and be front and center of the "story". Let's face it, there are people with limited Emotional Intelligence in this world and giving them a voice is generally a bad idea, but how can one stop it.

I'm sure another story will come out about how mean, hurtful, and ugly Boston Sports fan are.

I'm sure there's one or two idiots who are willing to threaten people over this crap. In any group of people, no matter how meaningless the cause, there's always someone who has to take it way too far. DOesn't surprise me that this is one of those things.

We live in a world where people issue death threats over video game journalism, after all. Of all the maladjusted, basement-dwelling sperglords in the world, I'm sure a couple of them must be Pats fans.

"I know where you live, and I'm going to kill you." - Threat
"You suck. I hope you die." - Not a threat
What about 100 ESPN employees being contacted with "I have all your Dik pics from Ashley Madison and I am going to show them to everyone in your family to prove that you are the real cheater unless ESPN stops"? My guess is that is a threat to most folk except like Rex who may get off on it.

Whats up next on is it a threat or not?

When the reporter/politician/speaker is in favor of the movement involved, it's just a couple of bad apples.
When the reporter/politician/speaker is opposed to the movement involved, it's people who are representative of the entire movement.

This ties into a personal "Internet" theory of mine which Ive written a handful of posts addressing.

Roughly 10% (or more according to many studies) of human beings are diagnosed/able with some kind of serious mental illness.

Now take that 10% and apply those numbers to almost anything involving large groups of people. We are human. We read 9 perfectly innocuous posts/tweets and think nothing of it.. but then we read that 1 obnoxious post written by a troll or someone is mentally ill and of those 10 posts, we tend to remember the 1.

100 posts and 10 of them have a pretty good chance of having been written by someone who is mentally ill.

1,000,000 posts or tweets and yeah, a goodly number of them are going to be by people that should probably be locked up.

That article doesn't mention anything about threats directed toward any Patriots coaches, players, staff or fans.

Hopefully, nothing happens to anyone, but the media has built up the anti-Patriots stories to the point where some nutjob might decide to take action. If they do, you can be sure we'll hear Mike & Mike, for example, speak in somber tones about how this is just a game and entertainment and it's hard to believe how seriously people take things. They'll completely ignore their role in spreading false and/or biased stories to create this atmosphere.

They should count their blessings that Whitey Bulger is behind bars.

I really wish I could watch Monday night football but I refuse to tune into BSPN on nights the Patriots are not playing.

The idea that this is happening is totally plausible. The fact that it's being reported by ESPN makes me skeptical. Habitual lying is systemic throughout the entire organization.

I find it fascinating that CEO Bob Iger of Disney skates on this. Iger needs ESPN to maintain high ratings to earn for Disney while the parent company navigates the treacherous waters that are how people watch entertainment which is rapidly changing. Espn takes the hit ... what if IGER is pulling the strings and skates?

Add to that this:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Iger

Iger was born to a Jewish family[4][5][6] in New York City, New York,[3]

Iger completed his undergraduate studies at Ithaca College where he graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Television & Radio from Ithaca's Roy H. Park School of Communications.[11] He then began his career as a weatherman for a local television station.[12]

The cord-cutters are chipping away at the iceberg — ESPN has lost more than 3 million subscribers in a little more than a year. And those consumers are demanding a more a la carte way to consume their content.

Some other things that make you go hmmm:

Roger Goodell - Bob Kraft - Bob Iger
Things that make you go hmmm... Cozy with the next commish???

The man who can call on or call off the lap dogs at ESPN ... Bob Iger CEO Disney.
Also ... maybe some owners not happy about the cozy relationships Bob has.

Based on the reviews for the movie, "Black Mass" Johnny Depp has become Whitey.

I pine for the days when one could punch in at nine, write slanderous, inflammatory articles that aren't true, and then just punch out at five without ever having to be inconvenienced for the defaming, hatchet articles they post.

Well we know it's not Mort, I mean we all know he don't know how to use social media. LOL
Seriously though, to me this seems more of a "uh oh people are starting to notice our lies and inconsistencies in our reports so quick let's shift the focus back on those bad patriots and their fans and make people feel sorry for us".
Nothing more.

They are such thin skinned babies. Maybe if they weren't an nfl propanda service comparable to nazi Germany's during ww2 people wouldn't get so pissed off when the facts come out completely contradicting what your station has been reporting for 8 months
