Offense scored 108 points in three postseason games agaisnt elite competition - they're fine. McCourty is critical to D. Why is this even a question?

Because flash and dash trumps winning the Super Bowl clash?

I would rather have Lombardi trophies...

Dmac,

Our offense isn't a problem. our D could be.

If Aaron Hernandez wasn't such a dumb **** we would have had 2 all pro TEs, an all pro safety, a 100 catch/1000 yard WR out of that draft class with McCourty, Gronkowski, Hernandez, and Edelman all draft in 2010.

Basically people wanted Bryant, Gronkowski, and Hernandez, plus resign Welker, plus trade for Peterson, plus trade for Fitzgerald...
Change that font man, it's distracting

I'd rather have this:

Also,

What do you think this offense would be like with Dez and Gronk together? What would it mean for the rest of the NFL?

Dez would make Ocho Cinco look like Einstein trying to learn this O.

If Randy Moss was coming out of college the same time as DMac..... Randy has an off the charts FB IQ.

Dez Bryant is a great WR. Barring injury he'll probably end up as one of the top 10 in history.

Yes, that means Dez has more TD in the last three years (41) than Brandon Marshall and Larry Fitgerald's three best TD seasons combined (37). Neither Anquan Boldin nor Roddy White have ever caught 12 TDs in one season and between the two of them only have three seasons of 10 or more TDs. All three of Dez Bryant's last three seasons are in the top 100 all-time in receiving TDs. If Dez gets 12 TDs again this year he will be the first player in NFL history to get 12 receiving TDs four seasons in a row. Others in the three-season-in-a-row club are Jerry Rice (2x), Marvin Harrison (2x), Terrell Owens, Chris Carter, and Lance Alworth. On the other hand, Randy Moss, Larry Fitzgerald, and Calvin Johnson never had more than two consecutive 12-TD seasons. Or, put another way, only 6 players in NFL history have more 12-TD seasons than Dez, so he's bound to buck the numbers there, regardless.

On the other hand, there's no guarantee he could have done that here and I'm very happy with McCourty.

Except Edelman was drafted in 2009, not 2010. . . .

It's personnel driven, for me. Given the current personnel of the Patriots, it'd be McCourty. If I was starting a team from scratch, it would be Bryant.

Gronkowski is not going to have 30 touchdowns, Dez 1500 yards, and Edelman 100 catches.

This is actually possible. Gronk is that dominant.

You don't need to spend that much on receivers because you have Brady, who will give you a top offense no matter who the receivers are. Most people get this backward and think how great it would be to give Brady weapons, but the truth is, while you have to give him something, the team is better equipped to win when you spend your resources on players that make the other parts of the team that Brady is not directing, better.
We win more games with Hightower than his equivalent as a WR, with Solder, McCourty, etc, etc. because Brady handles the passing game, and the best way to win is to help him in other areas.

With one major caveat. If you were drafting them, the risk of Bryant turning into a bust because of off the field issues, has to be considered, and may tilt the scales. At this point, he may have been around long enough to dismiss that though.

This discussion is nonsense, as mentioned above we now have information and stats from both players so it seems to me that Bryant is a better player and a playmaker at WR than DMac is at safety (after failing to play CB) so the better value on now is Bryant.

Coming out of the draft is a crap shot. I just want to see at least once BB draft a receiver in the first round, I believe the train has passed though, these last 2 drafts were loaded with quality receivers and now in the last part of Brady's career it's even more likely that BB will draft defense and lineman most of the time instead of RB or WR.

Dez is a great player but not that bright supposedly, we won a SB with McCourty so I wouldn't change anything. Plus, a really good safety is harder to find than a good wide out.
