How cool would it be if Jeffrey Kessler volunteered to go with McNally and Jastremski??
Oh to be a fly on the wall for that meeting....:D

I hope they file a lawsuit. The ground is already burnt.

Sure thing, but they should require copies of the leagues demand that the Patriots suspend just for their records.

I think that Tod Leiweke.the NFL's new COO is going to start handing out pink slips soon (maybe by the end of the season). You can't have a billion dollar industry being run by a bunch of incompetent executives overseeing an incompetent investigation without heads rolling. Vincent is the logical "fall guy in the crew:" it fell under his responsibility, he wrote the discipline letters, he sucked at the appeal hearing.

Goodell must have attended the 2014 NFL Rookie Symposium.

Actually, I think Goodell, in most of his circumstances, stumbled his way to success. The only good thing I say about him is he maintains an even keel demeanor in the public (mostly). Every other attribute that I would want in my CEO, I don't see in the current Commissioner.

Part of me wonders if this is s scouting mission by Vincent to feel out their legal position. Upon reinstatement, they give up the right to sue. If they refuse to sign then it gets interesting.

They had five meetings with the NFL, including one several hour one with processional attorneys trying to badger them into confessing. There won't be any gotchas and Vincent is not a professional interrogator. They just need to say what they said before.

However, I doubt Goodell would ever let them be reinstated....It makes the league look bad.

My God, the level of incompetency of the NFL league office never ceases to amaze me. These idiots don't seem to understand that by asking these 2 guys in, they just made a liar (what a shock) out of Roger Goodell, who told the world the league never suspended them.

This is great news for these guys, however, since unless they are being brought in for an apology, it only strengthens their defamation or wrongful firing suit, (whichever they decide to file).

IIRC these guys where subject to multiple interviews totaling over 7 hours of testimony. Testimony that even the biased Welles couldn't use to sink the Pats. IIRC, he only use one or two SENTENCES in his report. That's one or two sentences out of over SEVEN hours of combined testimony. Clearly McNally and Jastremsky have nothing to add to this, and by so publicly calling for their presence the NFL is merely attempting to prolong their media attack on the Pats and to further humiliate these 2 poor powerless guys.

Just another example of the lengths the NFL is willing to take this against the Pats (Take note Bob), and how Toxic the leadership is at 354 Park Ave has become.

No one is suing anyone. This legal lawyerey BS is over. Brady had no choice but to sue to defend himself, it was within his rights. The NFL foolishly is continuing the appeal process but once done that is it, the end.

There will be no defamation suits filed by Kraft, the Patriots, Brady, McNally, Jaz, or anyone else. It is a waste of time and money and will not accomplish a damn thing. It will just prolong this silly dialogue and make the lawyers a ton of money. It is what it is.

Not sure but I think it was in Vincent's letter to the Patriots that they needed to get his approval before reinstating them.
Sup Venecol. But then that's my point about the continued lying. Why would that provision be in the letter if the NFL did not ask for the Pats to suspend the two? That's some damn good foresight on their part to presume the Pats would suspend the two without a request from the league office to do so, don't you all think? Wow, I hate this league.

I agree with the sentiment that the NFL is going to make them accept the Wells Report as condition for their return. Hopefully, they will tell Vincent to stick.

If the NFL does try this power move with them, it is a lose-lose for them. They cannot get re-instated if they don't admit to the Wells Report, but how long can they expect to stay employed with the Patriots if they do?

But this seems clear that they want to win the PR battle by getting these two low level guys to admit that Brady is a liar and the Wells Report is right.

Kessler works with the NFLPA, these guys aren't union members.
Pardon me because law is not my strength, but that does not mean a certain wealthy organization would not be able to retain Kessler for them, no? Not saying this would happen, just saying maybe.

Hey PatsBoy, well we all know they are incompetent. Kessler used the NFLs own discipline letters, reports, the award, Goodell's own testimony, Wells and Vincent's testimony, etc. to make his case. He cleaned their clock. For all the lawyers they have at the NFL headquarters (Harvard or not) they sure are a bunch of morons. I have to believe the Owners have to be fed up with this and heads will roll.

If I'm the Pats I tell the league they will make them available provided they have council and the proceedings are recorded and made public. If the league just wants to speak with them and not further railroad the Pats with negative press they should have no problem agreeing to that.

The Patriots have to require that any meeting is taped and a matter of public record. The NFL League office has lied and leaked misinformation repeatedly and cannot be trusted to accurately represent the dialogue that takes place in any meeting.

I couldn't disagree more V. So much that I almost used the dreaded red X. ;)

The defamation card is the critical final step if we want these continuing attacks to end. Right now the common wisdom is that Brady got off on a technicality and the Pats beat the rap. Yes I would agree that this situation is very slowly changing as common sense and the facts rear their ugly heads, but it is STILL the pervasive opinion outside of NE. And it will likely continue to be, unless the NFL league office is exposed for the toxic waste dump it's become.

Now I would agree that nothing is likely to be done during the season for obvious reasons, but from what I've read here Brady et al have 3 years to file their case, so after the season ends, I hope Tom or Bob decide that their Legacy is more important than the effort it will take to mount their cases.

V, it will only be through a defamation suit that the NFL offices will be exposed and the truth behind these CONTINUING attacks on the Patriot's legacy will be laid bare and the attacks will stop. If you keep letting the bully take your lunch money, you should have no expectation of eating lunch. It is only when you stand up to the bully will the attacks stop. Unless you can give me another alternative, why would I expect these attacks to stop?

Another contrived opportunity for terminally insecure idiot Troy Vincent to beat his chest and proclaim, "I am The Man! Respect my authorit-ah!" If I was McNally or Jastremski I'd ask him, "OK, when do we get to meet with a real NFL league executive? I mean, someone other than a Patriots-hating ex-player who was taken to the woodshed whenever he faced Tom Brady -- on and off the field."

At this point, I think the NFL would settle for a "confession" that they doctored the balls, even if they exonerate Brady.

Naturally, the NFL would purport not to be convinced by the Brady-exoneration part.
