Is Peyton toast?

Brock Osweiler might be better at this point. I would not be surprised if peyton is benched at some point.
I dont think he would ever be benched, he would probably request his release before he was benched

I may actually watch the Donkeys play a few games this season just to see what Manning looks like. I'm also interested to see what changes Kubiak has made to the offense.

Peyton Manning is one of those guys that I don't think I'll ever be comfortable counting out, so I'm not going to.

Would anyone here honestly he surprised if he threw for 350 yards and 4 TDs tomorrow?
Nope. In fact, as another poster put it, he may have a great September and October. I would like to see what he looks like later in the season when that arm has some more mileage on it. Also, I think we have to see how Kubiak has changed the scheme. They're going to be more run-oriented, they say.

The thing is..in a league where you have teams starting tyrod taylor. A shell of manning is still a better option than most

Im even more curious to see how he does this year because it is probably his least loaded team weapons wise...he has d. Thomas and Emmanuel sanders. And thats it

Kubiak's running game/scheme and emphasis may protect manning more and their defense should be better. They will better than last yr.

Serious Me:
I appreciate everything that Peyton Manning is because when we look back on history, we'll have to understand why the Patriots won more than Colts/Broncos that were QB'd by Peyton Manning.

From a volume perspective and what he could have meant to the game, Peyton is an all-time great. But, football is a team sport and this will ultimately highlight the difference between the 2 men (Peyton/Brady) and teams. If Peyton had BB, he would have thrived and had similar success to Brady (assuming Peyton and BB could work together which would have probably been fine if he went to BB as a rookie)

Non-Serious Me:
No, Peyton is not toast or even bread. His carbohydrate of choice would have been an al-dente noodle.

Not toast ... perhaps a crumpet for now.

Manning is one of the alltime greats. He is prepared and produced for many seasons. I think he is a fraction of what he was in his prime. I no longer fear NE playing Manning and there was a time that was the case.

I think you are saying Peyton Mannings weapons > Peyton Manning. While he's still good and better than most QBs his weapons are carrying him to a certain degree. Brady is still the man!

He's finished. He's been finished. The AFC West was trash the last few years. It's on the ascension and the Broncos are in decline. His soft schedules and the soft defenses he had to face in the regular season, masking his mediocre performances with the broken tackles of Denver's skill positions-- those days are over.

I wouldn't be surprised if Peyton takes a mean beating in a few of these upcoming games. I bet he throws more picks this season than any other in his career (if he plays all 16 games) and I bet he ultimately gets booed off Mile High field.

BOLD statements (though I'd say more INTs other than his first year?)

I approve :D. KC, Chargers and even Oakland have good defenses and should be able to put some pressure on him. Denver will go as Peyton goes for the division games

I think he is all but washed up personally. Broncos also have a very tough schedule this year. I'd be surprised if they win more than 10 games. At best, they are a wild card team.

If memory serves his arm turned into a wet noodle in late Nov. of last year.

That could easily happen sooner. They need to run the ball a ton. He can't handle 600 passes a year anymore. He needs have a year like TB in 2010. Be so incredibly efficient that he doesn't need to throw a ton.

Don't know about his arm but the one pre-season game I watched he threw himself to the ground during a blitz when the player about to tackle him was like 3 steps away. He looked like an old man. It was hilarious.

Is Peytie toast?...why yes...yes he is....

Unless he had the quickest falling regression from Pro Bowler to **** (about 6-8 weeks) in the history of all sports, I'd say that he probably suffered from some type of injury.

He's obviously not as good as he once was, but the guy threw like 80 TD passes in a season and a half span, then suddenly spiraled downward over the last six games.

People are suddenly acting like he's toast because he lost in the playoffs. Apparently, they haven't been paying attention for the past 15 years.
It wasn't that he lost in the playoffs. It was HOW he lost in the playoffs. There were times when it seriously looked as though he was throwing the ball past the line of scrimmage. He had no arm whatsoever. Maybe he was injured. But at his age, and given his already existing chronic injuries and the fact that he can't feel the tips of his fingers on his throwing hand, and he didn't do well after the leaves changed color BEFORE, my money is on toast. It will be a tough haul for them to make the playoffs. Houston may give them a run for their money.

Edit: Duh, I forgot he's in the west now.

Honestly, even if Manning doesn't do well this year, it wouldn't do much to change how the media sees him. Unlike Brady, who's been endlessly ridiculed and branded a cheater, Peyton has always been the darling child of the NFL. And so people will continue to overlook the repeated failings that have long been evident to us Pats fans.

And I agree with those who say Peyton is past his prime. The only thing that's keeping him in the game is his sense of pride. Perhaps in his mind, he still feels he has something to prove.
He's so classy!! Look at how delicately he teabagged that trainer in college.
