I confidently believe, without bias, that Edelman now is better than Welker ever was

It depends on what you are looking for. Overall I would now be forced to go with Edelman but no one runs 5 yard option routes better than Welker did in his prime. My problem with Wes was that it consistently took too many plays to score. 14 plus play drives dont work out so smoothly in the playoffs.

As stated earlier, Wes doesnt seem as likeable or energetic as Edelman and that comes into play when the team needs a spark.

On an unrelated note, Branch was the best at improvising when plays broke down and had some pretty good moves in the open field similar to what we saw from Dion Lewis.

i agree with you, grandissimo Julian

In UFC Gronk would rip Moss's spine out, lol
In football, I think you have to wait till Gronk retires.

I know its different positions, and i know how freakishly great Moss was, but Gronk is on pace to smash all the TE records, and that's with him missing a boat load of time. Its ridiculous!

Welker is a far superior comedian.

I have to admit that a final comparison may be premature until we see how the rest of Edelman's career plays out, and his stats may never approach those of WW. However as someone once said stats are for losers and when it comes to the big game I want a winner and the record speaks for itself.

Remember about 3 years ago when everyone was freaking out because Welker barely played opening day, and rumor spread that McDaniels viewed Edelman as a better fit for the offense, and everyone read into this as Belichick digging in and being "cheap" with his WR superstar?

How's that working out?

I know this thread is about comparing Jules and WW but I'll say this.

As good as Randy was here (and he was sensational), Gronk is a more valuable player in this offense.

I have a theory and it had nothing to do with Jules.

I truly believe that they were trying to ween Brady off of Welker a little and become a much more TE and Brandon Lloyd focused offense. When Gronk went down and Lloyd and Brady started having their issues, WW was there- thank god.

That could be...but I always suspected it had to do with concussions as well, and that Welker had a concussion in the 2012 offseason that wasn't discussed much. I thought the Pats were trying to stash him away without giving away their gameplan and hoping to limit him for awhile until they were more confident in his health. However, when injuries hit, they threw caution to the wind.

I don't really have solid evidence to back it up, but it must be true, because you can't prove it didn't happen, nor can you prove the Patriots didn't cheat in every game in NFL history.

Good theory. Makes total sense actually.
