Terrelle Pryor

Weird. Initial reports say he received a 7 on his Wonderlic which is 4th grade level then later a 22 which is decent.

Read a rumor that he was allowed to re-take it.

Those tests mean little. Randy Moss scored a 12 and he's a smart guy who picked up our offense with ease. If Pryor can be a succesful D1 QB, he should be smart enough to play WR for us. Dobson was barely used last night, why not try out a bigger faster player with a lot to prove.

Getting a 12 as WR is different than a 12 as QB. Different level of processing of info.

Moss is smart, but he also was in the league 8 years before coming here and played in the complicated West Coast offense in MN.

The Pats have proven willing to transition guys from QB to WR before, and Pryor is an athletic specimen. His agility drills weren't great at his pro day, but he's still a 6'4", 240 pound guy with a 4.3 40 time.

Pryor tested again at 20. I think those tests are as much a product of your uprbringing as anything, Like I said, Pryor was an elite college QB, He's started 10 games at QB in the NFL. He should be able to pick up our playbook at WR. Let's at leat work him out. The guy is 6'4" 240 and runs a sub 4.40.

I do subscribe to the belief that environment and background influence how well a person does on those scores. Right or wrong the test is used to measure how fast a player can process information. Its a data point and another way of evaluating intelligence.

Rumor is Gronk got a 29 which is very good. During the combine workout in 2010, BOB gave him 3 plays, 20 minutes to study and on a grease board needed to redraw them from memory. He also needed to flip the plays and in rapid fire was asked when X happens, what do you do.

Rumor is he aced everything.

Based on his public persona I find the above very hard to believe but there are different kinds of smart. Moss is certainly in that category.

I'm all for it.

I would definitely bring him in and see what he's got. If he looks real good, maybe hang onto him for a while and see if he can get acclimated somewhat to the offense by mid-year. Tim Wright was picked up right before the regular season last year and seemed to pick things up decently after a few weeks.

If by "picked up" you mean traded for (with a HoF, locker room leader and beloved Patriot)...then yes, I agree.

Definately, at least to the practice squad. 6'4 1/2", 240 lb., 4.38 40. He's transitioning, but his experience as a QB could help with our complicated offense. He also has a chip on his shoulder.

That would be the only real angle here, a possible sign to the PS to run the scout team stuff--if he's even eligible.

It's tough to have a project player w/o PS eligibility, especially on a roster as stacked as ours.

Edelman, Givens and Ebner are three somewhat encouraging examples, but even then -- as noted above, those are the types of guys you acquire in the offseason. Also, all of them were late picks who could have been easily cut and probably made it to the PS if things had worked out differently.

Yes, I agree. Personally, I have a hard time even beginning to imagine someone coming in and picking up the playbook at this point, unless they are going to contribute in a month or so. WR is a ***** of a position on this team.

Hell, remember how hard Collie had to work just to contribute in the slightest form? He was coming in hrs early working with Brady and O'Shea, and leaving hrs late every day for weeks and weeks.

I know Pryor from living in PA (high school) and following the Buckeyes, and it's hard to see him giving that same level of dedication. Here's hoping he proves me wrong. I'm still not even convinced that he can play WR in the NFL.

PFT says that he has two workouts at WR scheduled, teams not identified, and confirmed that he is not practice squad-eligible.

With his size and speed, it's tempting. Though I'd expect he'd be game day-inactive all year, and the roster spot may be needed.

Players changing positions are hurt by the practice squad eligibility rules.

Would be overjoyed if they signed him. I think he is a great Belichick "reclamation project".

Yeah, I just don't see him coming here without PS eligibility. Bills trying to manage a championship caliber 53 and I don't see a transition project taking one of those spots. Especially at WR and the presumed return of LaFell in a few weeks.

@ProFootballTalk: Per source, Terrelle Pryor worked out for the Patriots on Monday. No signing is imminent.

Translation: He's unemployed because he's not practice squad eligible.

And as always, I refuse to miss a chance to point out that Florio's source on this is obviously his good friend and Pryor's agent, Drew Rosenhaus.

Pretty much anyone who wants to re-take it can; it's not like it's a one-person-per-class thing.

I have no idea what the rule are for those things. I would assume that if you received a 7 and millions of dollars are on the line you would take it 50times if you had to

I disagree. There is plenty of room at the bottom of the roster for developmental players, just not scrubs like this one.
