BB seemed kind of annoyed with the communication quality at Foxboro as well in his presser. He said they deal with this kind of thing pretty much "every week". Is it possible that communications at Foxboro are generally spotty, and visiting teams are assuming the worst when in fact the Pats are dealing with the same issues on their sideline on a regular basis?

I did not read Tomlin's comments as "we had communications issues--we always have them at Foxboro--AND that's the reason we lost"...Tomlin is a lot of things, but I'm positive if asked directly he'd say the reason Pittsburgh lost was that they got outplayed and outcoached ("below the line" performance in Tomlin-speak).

It's those "Microsoft Ipads" that Al Michaels keeps referencing. Just go with Apple and Beats. "It just works" :)

The Steelers and their fans are just a bunch of whining ****ies. Headset problems on BOTH sides, NFL is in CONTROL of ALL headsets and communications, and yet they are gonna say they lost because of this. **** them, I hope they lose EVERY game. I will be rooting against them all season long, those spineless ****ies.

And we all wondered how Roger and his office would get back at Brady for beating him in court.....why create another controversy which makes the Pats look bad! If this is truly a league issue than the should have come out a completely squashed this right away, but yet their letting it linger out there to create more doubt. I know they made a statement but I think they need to make a more forceful one!

The NFL continues on it's path to becoming the wwe. There was some great football played last night but all of the talk is about wireless headsets. The nfl has created this mess and the owners need to clean it up.

I don't see why Tomlin had a problem with being force-fed the Pats play-by-play radio broadcast. You'd think it helped him figure out what was going on.

I'm just really disappointed in what your teams website is trying to accuse though. I had a lot of respect for Pittsburgh and how they ran. Thought they were better than the likes of Indy and Baltimore.

Numerous Unnamed sources tell me that they saw a Patriots Employee pour warm gatorade on the wires that caused the Patriots radio broadcast to be on the Steelers headsets. Sources also say that they knew the gatorade was warm because said patriots employee offered them a cup in which they drank and spit out immediatly.

I would love it if after being told that the Steelers were getting the Patriots radio broadcast in their headsets, BB said "well I guess they didn't listen to them say that they should have called a timeout near the end of the half"

I think Jastremski and McNally were tailgaiting and hacked into the communications systems!

Give me $5 million and I'll prove it!

the new WELLS/PASH report : "there were almost 70,000 individual in attendance at Gillette. Given Jastremski and McNally's perfect attendance at home games during the 2014 season, it's more probable than not they were in attendance during the home opener during the Steelers. Thus given historical communication issues between myself and them, it is also more probable than not they were the cause of the communication issues the Steelers faced"

there, saved $5M dollars

Its possible its the location of the stadium and what not. Tomlin didnt say as you suggested that they lost the game ebcause of that but he clearly was more bothered by it than an experienced coach should be -maybe after all the SI and ESPN reports last week. Tom curran says he was talking angrily after the game to the Steeler GM and owners.

LOL, this stuff has been going on a long time.

I guess they can't use cellular to avoid using frequencies. Each team should provide their own cellular backup. Heck, my security system at home has it. But the NFL teams can't have it. Soldiers rely on communication in battlezones, but the NFL can't do it for games.
That's what I was thinking as well. Headset "gamesmanship" has been going on forever in the NFL, and even when it's purely a legit tech malfunction, if it happens so frequently why isn't their a backup system in place? (Or does that violate some obscure league rule about using phones during the games?)

Shutdown Corner on Yahoo has a great take on all of this non-sense:
And then there's this: As detailed on the official NFL Operations website, the league assigns a "gameday frequency coordinator," whose job it is to manage thousands of frequencies running through a stadium — any stadium — during a game. This includes: players and coaches; medical and security staff; the instant replay system and sideline camera crews; TV and radio broadcasts; concession stand and cleaning crews; halftime entertainers; and outside interference, such as airplane pilots and Doppler radars.

During the game, DFCs use equipment to identify issues, often before they're a problem. Should communication between coaches and players become an issue, teams are given backup frequencies. And if problems arise between coaches, as was the case for Tomlin, "sideline technicians maintain coach-to-coach communications by connecting the [belt] pack to a 100-foot cable for a wired connection."

Worth a read.

What I don't understand of all of this is if the Steelers were getting the Pats coach broadcast on their headsets, wouldn't that be a advantage?
