See the video. Players are minors but could face criminal charges. Players later said ref made racial slurs.

One point is I saw this at another forum and "Hatriots will be Hatriots"...they want sports for the entire HS banned, etc. doesn't this sound like a Goodell decision? Yes, the video is damning, but let's get the entire story first.

The two that did it should be expelled from the school and never touch a football field again.

The schools administration needs to have a heart to heart and consider dropping the season and starting with a clean slate next year. Only they can know if the team as a whole is a problem or not. These two retaliated because two team mates were ejected from the game for two separate incidents. Sounds like the team needs to rebuild from the top down with new adult leadership, which might mean calling the season.

We don't know if the coach tolerated rogues

I'd go with suspending the two players the rest of the year for all sports and having a day in court. Maybe more to follow.

The two that did it, did it. It's on tape. They should be more than suspended for just the year, they should not be allowed to participate at all while they are in high school. No need to wait for a day in court when we all can watch what they did. No context is needed for that attack.

I agree we don't know the coaches opinion on things, but he had two incidents in the game where players got ejected, which is very bad in high school sports. He then had this indecent afterwards. No matter his opinion, he failed as a leader of young men. The school administration will have to investigate and make some hard choices, which realistically could mean cutting the season short and letting the coach go. I can't say how they should rule because I don't know the situation like they do/will. This is high school, so it's not the same as with adults. The welfare of the kids has to be considered above all else.

I need to know more, including the typical penalties. The players ARE going to be punished...it's just how much and if others should answer. i.e. What Would Goodell NOT do?

It's actually pretty disgusting. That ref could have easily sustained a spinal or neck injury and could have been permanently injured for the rest of his life. I would press charges, no question.

Definitely not.

looks like the ref vey well could have used 'racial slurs' directed at the players. Doesn't make what the two morons did in the game any different and he should press charges, but hopefully the investigation can definitively prove he did or did not. If he did, he should work no where near kids again. Still can't attempt to paralyze a guy though, which is exactly what they tried to do, even if he is a bigot.

It doesn't really matter what the ref said. If he said racial slurs, then the team and players should have reported him and made sure he wasn't allowed to ref again. They should not have attacked him. That is not the answer to racial slurs. That just makes you look much worse than him. The Ref should defenitely press charges. This is not football players being football players or anything like that. This is assault.
