Eli Manning, Philip Rivers, Ben Roethlisberger...rank them

All three came into the league as early first round picks in 2004. I am curious where most people would rank the three of them. I am purposely leaving the ranking open ended for you to decide with your own criteria what is most important. Obviously, Eli has two SB titles and SB MVPs, so from an accomplishments perspective, he is clearly ahead of Rivers, though many would argue Rivers is a much better QB who hasn't had the same supporting casts.

Here is my ranking:

1. Roethlisberger (Hall of Fame)
2. Rivers
3. E. Manning

I personally think Roethlisberger is an overall better quarterback than Peyton Manning when you also include their ability to play well in big games under pressure. Eli's career has been far from a disappointment, and to Giants fans, he's a borderline legend.

1. Roethlisberger
2. Manning
3. Rivers

I think Rivers is a better passer, but he has never even made it to a Super Bowl. Rivers is sort of a poor mans Peyton Manning, compiles great stats but does not win big games.

Other than exceptional runs in two playoffs, has Manning really done much ? Obviously - winning the big game is all that counts, but how does Eli rank if he doesn't have lignes out front lines on D in 07 and 11 ?

Rivers is better than Eli, but hasn't had as much help on D.

#1 Ben - Injured too often and still makes some bad throws but clearly the best of the 3 as far as consistency goes and he really has put it all together to be an elite passer the last few years. Still a piece of trash IMO though. The interesting debate comes down to the other 2.

#2 Eli - Hot and Cold. That sums up Eli. However better Hot and Cold than lukewarm IMO. He does have the ability to be incredibly clutch at times and though he will have bad stretches and an incredibly bad play he does not rattle. His 2 SB championships are not accident. He is the Joe Flacco of the AFC. Can be forced into errors at times but has that ice water thing going for him most of the time.

#3 Rivers- A good QB. He simply lacks that IT factor though. Be it the moment is sometimes too much or too afraid to take the shot or can not inspire his team he just can't seem by force of will to put his team on his back. Never has been able to at any point in his career IMO. He flashes like he might be the guy but never is. Doesn't really "choke" but doesn't really become "clutch" either.

His playoffs stats are pretty good (85 QB rating and 11 TDs to 9 Ints - with 1 rushing).

But take his last loss. Going by the stats he played well in that game

2013 vs Denver 18/27 66% 2 TDs 0 Int 116 QB rating but lost 17-24 (the only scores were his 2 TD passes).

A lot of people would look at that and say "his team let him down". I ask, why not pass more? Brady (not to say he needs to be his equal) will pass 40-50 times a game if that is what it takes. Rivers cracked 40 (exactly 40) 1 time and lost 14-17 in 2010.

Rivers has the reigns to audible if he wants. He is allowed to call plays (though not the master Brady or Peyton are) but he seems to be in this kind of head space of "I'll will try to play well and hopefully we will win" as opposed to "Give me the F-ing ball! I am taking us to the promised land".

To be fair Eli is not known for that either so much. But he has passed 40, 40 & 58 times in playoff games and is 3-0 in them and didn't throw a single int. I don't think Eli minds the game being on him and Rivers does. That is why Eli > Rivers and why Eli has 2 rings and Rivers has 0.

Ranking or grading a movie, book, or athlete should be about 4 parts objective and 1 part subjective.

That said I've got to put Rivers first, R-berger (if I put 2 parts subjective, he would be dead last), and then Manning who I much prefer as a person.
