Ha Ha! A San Diego writer claims it's the Pats fault the Chargers are moving

An excellent, well-researched report that erupted Tuesday morning on ESPN.com claims that, from 2000 to 2007, the Patriots, under coach Bill Belichick, videotaped the signals of opposing coaches in 40 games and practices and walkthroughs

At this point you can only hope that there will be a objective documentary about Spygate one day that makes it clear what the entire debacle was actually about. Otherwise it will always be about "illegal filming" and "walkthroughs".

Well if the Patriots had moved to St. Louis then the Rams would probably still be in L.A.... So there would be no drive to move the Chargers there....

Nah, that's the best I could do but it just doesn't work..... :D

It won't matter. These deluded divas remind me of tinfoil-wearing 9/11 truthers. Instead of applying Occam's Razor and going with the simplest explanation, they concoct wild, incendiary schemes to cushion the butthurt and withhold props from BB and the band.

Could someone please explain to me how the Patriots cheating included mind control that prevented Chargers defenders from just falling to the ground after an interception?

Also, while you're at it, could you explain how the inferior Chargers beat the superior Colts? Must have been cheating, right?

How about BB's whole repressive side line demeanor is one giant trigger warning and the SD defenders didn't feel they had a safe space to fall down onto?

Excuse my French, but who really gives a **** about whether or not it was "40" times or whatever? How is that even a story?

The bottom line is that it wasn't even a league-wide rule until 2006, so unless they played 3-4 times as many games during that year as any other year, the suggestion of the number "40" doesn't even make sense.

I feel very confused all of a sudden, and am wondering how stuff like this isn't corrected immediately.

"Patriots."

For years I always held a little bit of regret in us beating the Chargers in 06 because if we hadn't they without a doubt beat Indy and go on to win the Super Bowl. Manning would still be ringless.

Never mind. F.uck em.

Hard to see Phillip winning it all. Hes a born loser

They should be more bitter that they didnt get Eli. He has 2 rings against the GOAT

I lived just north of San Diego for a couple years. Nice city, generally cool people, but the Chargers fans were some of the biggest bandwagon frontrunners I've seen in action. In 2008, you couldn't go 10 steps without seeing a Rivers/Tomlinson/Gates jersey. They literally never stopped talking about how they were the most talented team in the league, which was never really true and only got them to one AFCCG (which they soundly lost).

If their inability to close the deal has played a role in the team probably moving, it's because they couldn't be bothered to show up unless they thought they were favorites to win it all. I was at the SNF game last season. If I had a quarter for every time I heard a Chargers fan complaining that Pats fans had driven up the price of tickets to the game--because, get this: we actually show up to games--I'd have a buck or two.

Nothing against the city, though. It's a cool place. But the damage re: the Chargers is mostly self-inflicted.

Their idiot GM AJ Smith screwed with that team.

He had a pretty good season last year and calling him a "born loser" seems a bit harsh. He's proven to be one hell of a competitor, playing through a major injury in the AFCCG of 2007.

Id certainly have him in the top 10-12 QBs in the league. Just my opinion. I used to think he was a douche, but found out that he's just fiery on the field like Brady. Supposedly, he rarely even curses, etc. Seems like a decent guy.

Let's all pile on the mound of garbage that the NFL-ESPN unholy alliance has wrought.

Now a San Diego writer is attempting to imply that it is the Patriots fault that the Chargers are moving (guess I missed that announcement), because if it wasn't for those dirty cheatin' scoundrels, Tomlinson would have lead the Chargers to "a ring, maybe two" - and that would have resulted in a new stadium.

This is becoming so laughable I have no words to describe the lunacy.

An excellent, well-researched report that erupted Tuesday morning on ESPN.com claims that...

Okay, I have to admit that I literally laughed out loud at that line. However, I did have to continue in order to figure out if this 'journalist' was serious, or just sarcastic. The same sentence quoted above concludes with the oft-repeated lie about videotaping walk-throughs, but why let facts get in the way of a good story?

Did the Patriots’ cheat? We’ll probably never know. Possible? Absolutely. You have to be incredibly naïve or blinded by the Patriots’ light to believe they didn’t.

After that it's more of the usual. Words like 'smug' and 'arrogance'. That Goodell and Kraft are close buddies (which is so evident in the handling of these two cases, right?) And of course, an obligatory reference to how the Chargers were the better team on paper - therefore, the only way the Patriots could have defeated a team with more star power would be with nefarious means.

What a freakin' joke the state of professional journalism has become.
You can't make this stuff up, we tried.

The weird thing is that he lists the 2007 AFCCG as an example.

Uh, that was AFTER Spygate.
Ole Norv Turner must have left his play sheet out. It was there for the taking!

Is it possible to quote a story as true that uses unnamed resources? I mean there's no way for the secondary source to verify the primary...and that's how innuendo becomes fact.

EDIT: Must have been feeling a bit ornery to have quoted/said this.
@FrodoBagginz Dude, that is a very very creepy picture
Imagine it in a thong bikini!

I should have mentioned I have an ability to not picture things in my head that might cause my brain harm. Thus, I can think it without having to visualize. My apologies to anyone who doesn't have this ability! :D

These tears taste extra glorious

Is that really a quote from the article? "The Chargers had superior personal..." "Superior personal" what?

Another loser city with a loser franchise. Can never get over the hump so it must be someone else's fault.

You know they would have gone farther if their player would have just gone to the ground after intercepting TB. Good to bring back that memory of Troy Brown knocking the ball loose to win the game. BB didn't do a good job coaching the Chargers about situational football. Oh, that wasn't his job?

Yep Marlon McCree.

There have obviously had some great playoff wins but that game is in my Top 5. Brady was getting killed. The D was pushed all over the place and exhausted. If that was a fight the Pats were knocked down two times and had two standing 8 counts.

Pats earned that win but Schotsie really morphed into Grady Little.
