ESPN Removes Reiss's Reaction to Their Article About Patriots Stealing Playsheets

If the NFL's current league office gets taken down due to actual sports journalism it's gonna be Florio who does it.

Because he's the only one out there who sees that the big story here isn't a nice, soft **** stroking to Pats' haters, it's corruption within the league and collusion between the league and ESPN.

ESPN thinks because sports is not real news - they can lie with impunity. It seems they are correct - as no one in the sports world seems to be particularly concerned by it..

The douchnozzleism of ESPiN knows no bounds.

This is really bad.

Most things we hate in the media are journalists and commentators not trying hard enough to achieve their goal of honesty and integrity. But this is an example of deliberate dishonesty. Ouch.

Edit: Deleted a previous edit after people contradicted it below. ::sigh::

I wish Anonymous would hack ESPNFL.

ESPN probably intended to do this all along. Leave it up long enough to get it out there as a talking point, then deal with the fallout however you need to as it comes up. Doesn't matter if what's being written is simply untrue. Doesn't matter if they know it's untrue. You can always retract or rewrite later if it comes to that, or just ignore it.

It's "Pats taping pregame walkthroughs" all over again.
Yes and the retractions are seen by VERY FEW!! Really slime ball moves.

I feel for Reiss. I have kids and when you make an informed choice that turns out to be like this, the situation is rough. Ever since his personal blog post this winter it's been clear he's not crazy about espn's control of his Space.

Reiss doesn't deserve this. He's an amazing journalist that's never had an agenda (rare these days) but he'll criticize the team when need be.

I really hope the organization is looking at this and decides to boycott ESPN. Its time for the team to stand up and call out ESPN. Considering the false More report, Stephen A Smith broken phone, and now Spygate story all broke out from that station.

ESPN — where Entertainment always comes before Sports.

Someone, anyone PLEASE tell me Florio will be on the on the pregame tonight and be able to speak his mind! I love this guy, I can't believe he's the only one who really has the guts to speak out!

My take on Florio is this. He is not on our side, he is on asking and probing into what many don't. He was for the other 31 teams on spygate what he is for us on deflategate. So just make sure you know who you are in bed with.
I use him to get my slant of issues across to other fans or at least I hope he does, but what I keep seeing after the Wells report is that he usually writes stories close to what we all post here, so either our emails are getting to him or he lurks here to get our hot takes.

$15.2 Billion is more important that real journalism and integrity.
I just don't get it. OTL can write articles that shred Goody over Ray Rice and make baseless accusations vs the Pats but Reiss can't comment?

They want him gone. No question.

Yep. Florio is like the Hank Phillipe Ryan of professional football.

Someone credible please give Reiss a job. He deserves better.
We need to start a gofundme.com to get Reiss a job that he can respected for .......

Like the punch line to the old joke,
" Johnny is your father really a piano player in a wh*rehouse? No, he works for ESPN but I'm too embarrassed to tell anybody."

Edit: It's not quite as bad now that I understand that ESPN "disappeared" the part of the article Reiss was disagreeing with. Most importantly, it no longer sounds as if they're undermining his personal integrity. But it's still bad.
No they didn't, it's still there. They are undermining him. THIS IS AS BAD AS IT COULD POSSIBLY BE.

I don't know what you mean by disappeared the part of the article. I just looked and still saw the references to the play sheets.

This reminds me of the time Fox News won a court case because they argued the media is under no obligation to tell the truth. ESPN doesn't have to report facts, and they don't want to be honest, so it's a bad pairing with Mike.

I don't know about pay, but I'd love for Reiss to work for the Patriots. He is objective and unbiased, but fair, and so working for the team might cloud some of t hat. At the same time, it's clear he loves the team and what an opportunity that would be for inside access.

Stacey James, need a helping hand?
I don't think he wants to be in pr...he's a reporter. And it sucks how dominant ESPN is on the national stage. But I think he really has to leave.

It wouldn't surprise me if Reiss wanted to get as far from the Pats as he could get, as well. He wants to be a football reporter and 90% of the "stories" with the Pats have nothing to do with football.
