According to Zolak

wonder he's regretting his decision to bail from his old job yet?

I would love to know for what.

When Bill Simmons eventually starts his next site, Reiss should be his first hire.

Reiss is about the most objective, inoffensive beat writer I've ever seen. If he was reprimanded, the only reason I can imagine why is because he wasn't willing to actively lie to promote the company line.

Reiss needs to come home. And I say that as a guy living in NY.

I would guess at least one incident is when he had to publicly say he did not publish an article that they attached his byline to that he did not write.

Mike has integrity. He also has a family and quitting jobs in an industry and niche (Patriots beat writer) where there are less than 10 positions, all probably filled, is a very hard thing to do.

Simmons hinted yesterday that he has a new gig starting in a couple of weeks.. It will be interesting to see with whom..

He will be on HBO. But do you mean you are wondering what other personalities will be involved?

Even if Zolak is generally right, we don't know whether he's talking about formal reprimands or just comments from bosses.

But yeah -- this must have been a stressful off-season for Reiss. I'm guessing he'll take his cue from BB and Brady and stay as far away from PSIgate as he can this season.

And I wouldn't be shocked if next season he had a different job.

Reiss was reprimanded for publicly stating he didn't write an article with slanted information that he didn't write, but was attributed to him via Twitter.

I think that's referring to his deal with HBO, which includes a weekly TV show, a podcast, some HBO sports content, and other unspecified stuff.

I don't think it includes a Grantland-style website, although I could be wrong there. IMO it makes sense for him to launch a website, because he draws a ton of clicks and has proven that he can build a brand and bring in talent. Although Grantland never got a chance to become profitable, I think a site like that could be under his watch, and there's no shortage of people willing to give him money to make it happen if HBO isn't.

Poor bastard if true. Nothing worse than a boss busting your chops when he/she is wrong and you have no leverage except to quit.

Yea that was the apology crap over the weekend.

There's an opening at the Globe. Petition anyone?

Maybe he can spill the beans on what is going on at BSPN.
