Deadspin is now puffing the ESPN hit piece as unvarnished truth.

come on Pats Fans.....relax...enjoy the upcoming highscoring win on thursday.....lets BSPN leak more nfl infos to the public (its coming from RG for sure) . i dont care anymore... justice is coming.

greets

Baloney.
By your reasoning Kraft is already losing his franchise because he did defend his team responding to ONE of the many accusations (taping practices & walk thru) today.

Goodbye Bob! You were a better owner than the other 31!

Again, you're making sh!t up.. I did not say anything of the sort. If you can't be bothered to respond to what is actually said, don't bother responding at all.

EDIT: PWP - you are essentially being ESPN and posting BS. You and QM both. That's what I think of your "dislikes".. Cry me a river.

Courtroom sketches from NY: "She came over to me and she said 'can you sign it?' I was a little taken off guard, because I said, 'Is this like an official [thing]?' I wasn’t quite sure. I’ve never been in a courtroom before. I did sign it. It certainly got a lot of run. Hopefully she sold it and made a few bucks from it."

Damn, how many 1st rounders are we going to lose for this??? Obviously she must be deflating balls or some other nefarious scheme.

I'm tired, just tell the Pats you don't want them in the nfl . Is this the NFL or a hair dressers salon with old ladies(bspn, kensil , polian etc) gossiping and being jealous . Imagine if BB opened his little black book of 40 yrs NFL and started spewing accusations . They want to make sure Pats are not successful this year at all costs .
I will try and enjoy this team, actually try and enjoy football , whether they play 16 or 19 games .

The butthurt is strong with this one! You're sounding like the other teams after getting whipped.

I'm just now hearing about the ESPN "expose" and the unsubstantiated accusations that go with it. If anyone doesn' it think this isn't a DIRECT response and a retaliation from Goodell is extremely naive. BSPN had no earthly reason to go through the effort to dredge up every sore loser the Pats have played over the last 8 years.

It isn't a coincidence that just days after the NFL got its ass handed to them by Brady, that this crap comes out. That the goal of having the Pats viewed as serial cheaters that just got off on a technicality is now in play. No one is going to remember all of Goodell's lies and deceptions now. THIS is going to be the story the rest of the start of the season. It puts the Pats on the defensive, and becomes a MAJOR unfair distraction prior to the opening of the season.

Now I have felt that all the conspiracy threads that have abounded here the last few weeks have been a bit over the top. Threads that opined that the NFL league office will do their best to hamstring the the Pats on the field. Well now that I've seen this latest overt media attack I've come full circle. Yes Martha ....it is a full on conspiracy to damage the Pats ON the field.

It would be fairly easy to keep Stork on the sidelines this week by keeping in the concussion protocol a few days longer than necessary and thus hurt the Pats OL. There will be other intrusions. I"m sure the "game day officials" can throw a few distractions at the Pats as well as other nit picking things they can do. THEN you can get to the overt things like officiating. It doesn't take much, just a few strategic non-calls that will never be recorded.

I Think the time is past where the Pats as an organization or as individuals need to attack the slanderers and libelers back. Maybe during the season it might be too much of a distraction, but it NEEDS to be made clear NOW, that the NFL, ESPN, etc better be prepared to defend their words and actions. If we don't the slander will NEVER stop as long as BB and Brady are with us. NEVER
Great job ! This is the eloquent way to put how most Pat's fans are feeling about this. ESPN dredging this up at THIS time, is an obvious attack at the Pat's legacy. They had no reason to dig this up, it has no bearing or relevancey to 2014 and 2015. No reason. They are being fed from the league, that could be the ONLY explanation.

No, actually, that's you.. As you've sounded all day long.

How much pressure did Goodell and Kensil, etc. put on ESPN to come up with all of this? Or did they just throw a lot of $$ at them?

It's such a shame that the only real crime the Patriots have committed is being substantially smarter than 31 other NFL teams since Belichick became HC in 2000. Case in point, numbskull HC Harbaugh of the Ravens, who didn't know the rules regarding irregular formations and eligibility of players. Success breeds jealousy. Consistent success creates aversion. In that case, I hope the Patriots maintain their attitude of pushing the envelope. If that means being at odds with the other owners and the commissioner, so be it. It feels good to be on the 'dark' side!

"SPYGATE HAPPENED! DO YOU REMEMBER? DO YOU?!? IT WAS BAD, LIKE REALLY BAD! OH, SO YOU DON'T REMEMBER? OKAY, READ HERE:" - ESPN, the integrity based brand of sports journalism

This is the NFL's saying "Yeah we lost that court case, and yeah we look pretty dumb, but look: they really did cheat over eight years ago! Can't deny that, stupid Patriots!

Here's the thing. This report does not make Goodell look good. It makes him look corrupt and almost in the pocket of the Patriots for allegedly glossing over rule violations. So I can't imagine he would have wanted this report to happen.

Greg Bedard then blames Belichick and the Patriots for lack of transparency, opining that everything would be hunky dory if he/they had come clean years ago...

The facts not only fail to support this claim, they contradict it. Aside from the Patriots actually doing what Bedard thinks they should (admitting guilt and turning everything over) without it leading to his outcome, the NFL destroyed the tapes in an effort to perpetuate the idea that it contained something more nefarious than scoreboard shots and signal callers.

It's remarkable how uninformed "professional" writers are. I know they are responsible for more than just one team, but this is not new information here.

Except, as has been pointed out, there was no actual rules violation since the league actually misquoted the rule from the Operations Manual. Filming of defensive signals is fully legal. In fact, even doing so from the sidelines was legal as long as the film wasn't viewed during the game..

Also, every team was and is filming signals. They are just doing it from "specific" locations that are "enclosed"..

Read the reports and there is nothing new here. Well, maybe there is: Mike Martz saying that the statement given was not his words - and that is after he said Roger Goodell pressured him to make a statement to avoid a congressional hearing. Big trouble for Roger??????

Godell not attending NFL opener on Thursday. That is some news for the media.
And the fact that Peter King and other media finally are against NFL and Godell.
What to do What to do, omg what should we do. Hmmm lets launch some bad Pats stuff.

I hope that u are right with Stork situation, cause i really dont want him being heavily injured.
But i am buying this theory. Pats losing would be something for mr Godell&co.

Thing that confuses me most is (and I'll put my tin foil hat on for a second) why would Goodell push this article out there on his media mouthpiece, especially when he looks even worse because of it?

This feels like ESPN going rouge for a cheap pop, since they know the season is soon upon us.

Hard to think Goodell asked for even more bad press...

I think if someone is agitating for Goodell's job, they well might push this forward.

Seriously, at this point I *do* hope they open a congressional investigation:

- is there anything else on the Pats that could *really* be more damaging to their public reputation? Not like Goodell could dock additional draft picks over this

- focus now is on league coverup and not fully cooperating with a congressional inquiry (sound familiar Roger?)

- this could/should not only get Goodell fired, but take down a lot of the petty owners in the league as well.

- could lead to the long-term reform needed to keep this league going before people like me just tune out.
