In that case, pedestrian per dictionary.com means dull, boring or lacking in imagination. E.g. Woody Hayes, " three yards and a cloud of dust".

I stand by my opinion.

Also, I think it is an urban legend that Woody Hayes actually coined either that phrase or the one about three possible things happening when you throw a forward pass, two of which are bad.

On the other hand, he really did check out of the Ohio State University library a book called "How Porcupines Make Love". I don't know the subject of the book, but the title is surely a reference to the old riddle/joke.

God, "Protect the Shield" is infuriatingly misguided on a conceptual level. Hey morons, shields are objects used to protect people, not the other way around. No wonder they like sacrificing people.
