So..New England wasn't fun for Wayne..

I just think he didn't want to deal with the extra work of starting over in a new system.

I've thought about this for years, and I'm not fully convinced the Pats have some impossible offensive system to pick up. I believe the players' reports that it's well above league average in complexity, but there are other factors. You can't convince me that Moss, Edelman, Gronk and Welker just happen to be the select few who are savants enough to thrive, and seemingly no one else gets it. I think a lot of these older vets we bring in simply don't have it anymore, and the rookies or younger guys simply suck. There isn't much WR talent who failed here thriving on other teams.

Gronk's brain has limited space, so he needs to be careful about how it is used. My understanding is...

89% is allocated to the Pats offensive playbook.

10% to coordinating parties, dance moves and girls.

1% to working out, eating and bodily functions.

If Wayne followed that approach, life becomes cream cheese.

The last player who made a comment about football not being any fun in NE or it was more fun in Indy was Adam. Funny...

Is this surprising that Reggie Wayne would hate playing for a team that wasn't fun. He comes from the NFL equivalent of a six year old's T ball team where everyone gets participation banners hoisted in the rafters.

No wonder that soft ass pansy team is raising finalist and participation banner while we are hoisting Lombardy trophies and THE SUPERBOWL BANNERS !

Nice little retirement that old man got 2 weeks of lolly gagging

Scenario 1

Wayne is probably tired and thinks that football in general is tougher than it used to, especially since he has to learn a whole new offense and he feels like a rookie. He hasn't participated in OTAs and missed a lot of camp. So his body is feeling it.

Scenario 2

He's probably gonna be cut and BB gave him an out. BB respects Wayne and rather than say that Wayne couldn't grasp the playbook, this is better for Wayne's legacy. BB probably respects that Wayne admitted he might not be able to be 100% with the playbook.

It is difficult to work out the context of what has said from an 'unknown source'. It could be that he knew he didn't have it anymore, that training was hard accordingly, and that it was 'no fun' because he was playing garbage.

I will hold fire on the public lashing until we hear more.

Nabwong, good post. It's probably a healthy dose of both scenarios.

This is just Torry Holt all over again, vet at the end of the line with not enough left in the tank

Scenario 3

Wayne came to the Pats to get at their playbook. He is cut (at his request), and then is hired by Indy as a coach. It was the plan all along. Someone get Wells and Pash to investigate! Check the texts! What about the integrity of the game!?!?! PlaybookGate!

lol. Don't worry. No one on the colts is smart enough to understand the playbook. They're not even smart enough to understand science.

So true! :D

After all the bad reporting I'm not sure I can take another article/source at their word. No, I'm sure I cant. Unless I hear this out of Reggie Wayne himself it's just bs made up by typical jerkoffs with unnamed aources.

A 66 year old man has been working at a toy factory all his life. Even though he has slown down since his younger days, he loves what he does and he's been great at for years. But the company decides to shut down and he's out of a job. Sure he can retire but he feels like he's got a few good working years left in him.

So he gets hired on at another toy factory in a nearby town. Except this one just runs a lot differently. He's been more of an old school type laborer, and at this new place it's all computers and programming and automation. It's a bit overwhelming at his age to be doing something so different. So he decides to retire after all.

The translation of that story for most on this board, apparently: lazy ass old man just didn't want to work.

I find it hard to believe it was easy to play with Peyton Manning. IMO, Reggie thought New England would be a good fit but had a change of heart. I always enjoyed watching him play and wish him well if he decides to retire.
