OT: Kam Chancellor possibly on the trading block

I hope he ends up on the Raiders so we don't ever have to worry about him.

The Seahawks reportedly have him on the trading block because he wants a McCourty type of deal. No way the Pats pay two safeties top dollar.

I really don't understand why they would be interested in Kam after drafting Landon Collins. It would be a lot smarter for them to presume Eric Weddle.

With that being said, Id much rather our team go after Weddle then Kam. Weddle might be a traditional FS, but he's the best FS in the league against the run, and also one of the best in Man to man coverage.
Kam's a great player, but he would not be worth the asking price.

No thank you. Someone else can do a ridiculous trade for his rights.

No thanks, isn't he holding out 2 years into a 5 year contract? Kind of a douchebag move

"gee...that's a real real nice car you're driving, man...."

"uh, yeah..er..uh thanks...BUT....I WANT EVERYBODY ELSE'S CAR!!!!"

I'm sure any trade from Seattle to New England would come with a premium to it and BB isn't going to overpay for someone.

Not to mention, I saw Miguel post and we appear to be close to the cap?

We are far, far better off with Richards and the other relatively cheap players on the roster. Giving Seattle $6M or whatever it is of our cap space for this guy, in addition to picks and/or young players, is both not feasible nor does it improve the team on the field. Where do these ideas come from?

We are deep at safety. No thanks.

If he is traded Deion Branch style, check out the Seahawks roster:

They've taken massive hits at OL and are weaker at DT/CB. Losing Kam would be a big blow too. They added Jimmy Graham, who weakens their run blocking/identity. He just seems like a poor fit.

Team doesn't really scare me in a potential SB rematch since our new front 7 would destroy their OL and Brady shotgun would eat up their slightly weaker D again.

Agreed. We already have 6 Safties on the roster, and I think they surprise and start playing up to potential. I don't think Chung will be the starter at SS by years end. His ST contributions and play against the run are a plus, but he's shaky in coverage at best. Lets see what Richards can do. After McCourty having Wilson, Harmon and even Ebner that's as solid Safety depth as you'll find anywhere.

Can't afford him and don't need him.

The cap was always going to come back and hurt Seattle. Fair play, they drafted so well, but these guys end up having to be paid.

As for Kam, no nee, and would hurt our cap space. DMC is quality and there number two will be serviceable at worst, and good at best.

Isn't Kam one of the Seahawks defenders that couldn't stay with the Pats quick passing game? He and the rest of them were hitting each other more than they were hitting the Pats. He's Mevis without the talent.

Ninkovich and a 6th?
Tavon Wilson and a 4th?

Not sure I'd be a fan of either trade, just throwing ideas out there.
Ninkovich is a no-go. sorry. And I know BB feels the same as of now.

I like Kam Chancellor a lot. He'd be an instant upgrade as the #2 safety behind McCourty. The real problem is we have no cap space whatsoever. So I can't see us making a move for him. Plus the Seahawks would probably rather fall on their own swords then help improve the team that just beat them in the Superbowl. ;)

PS whoever said they would trade Chandler Jones in a heartbeat for Chancellor, I completely disagree. An elite defensive end is worth MUCH MUCH more than a very good safety in the NFL.

Giants are apparently very interested.

However, would you trade for him if you were NE? If yes, what would you give up to make it happen?

Maybe, but Chandler Jones is definitely not en elite DE.

Thank you!!!!!!!!

I personally think Sheard will have the better year then Jones. Im really tired of waiting for jones to finally "break out" That and his stupid shake step that he's been trying with no success over the years.
With the Sheard singing, I think there's a good chance we might not re-sign Chandler jones next off-season. With that being said, I think Jones makes the most sense as a potential player for a trade.

Although we are stacked at the SS position, I think a trade for Jones & Chung would potentially be a good trade. Losing both players would clear up just about enough cap space for his contract. How likely is this to happen, just about ZERO % chance.

The good news regarding Jones is that he has bulked up and is almost the size of a 3-4 DE. This makes his trade potential much greater.
Id be all for the team trading Jones for Sean Smith (CB) KC, or for Eric Weddle. Other then that, I say we keep him.

Tavon Wilson and a 4th?

I bet Pete Carroll would be foaming at the mouth at the thought of exchanging his all-pro safety with an underperforming guy who many people thought would be an outright cut yesterday.

AND a fourth round pick to boot? Why don't you just give away the whole team, man? :)

They might take Chung and a 2nd if Kam continues to hold out. All pro or not, he aint worth **** if he's not on the field.

I would personally sell my house to be able to see Kam on our team in a SB50 rematch with the Hawks. Have him hit Doug f*ckhead Baldwin the same way he hit Edleman. Only this time, Doug Baldwin would be taken out on a stretcher and exposed for being the true p*ssy he is.

God I hate that guy!
