Patriots "Actively" looking to trade for Big Bodied WR

How many years have we heard this rumor ? Every year the rumor comes out that the Pats are looking for a large receiver, either at the draft, free agency, whatever. Sure we drafted Dobson and signed Lafell, but they've had a zillion chances to draft or sign large receivers, and they always seem to get guys who are 6'1" or shorter.

I think these rumors come from writers who want tall receivers on the team, not coming from the team itself. I think this rumor will be debunked.

Did practice with Brandon Coleman and the Saints. Tall Rutgers receiver.

Doubt it, but seems at least probable.

For those talking Hunter or Nicks:

The Titans kept only 4 WR, so they aren't likely to be trying to shop Hunter. They actually have more TEs on their roster than WRs.

Nicks struggled to get separation, according to Titans reporters.

I have a small suspicion this news was leaked by someone in the organization to light a fire under Dobson's ass. I truly think he has what it takes to be very productive for us, and I believe Belichick thinks the same. I've never been wrong before.

You're expecting to get a great WR now? Whoever we can get at this point is going to more or less suck.

Gahd I wish there was a "sexy" button I could click for your posts. You make me so HOT!

Personally I do not trade for a WR. If I trade for anything it is for a CB.

I think Edelman/Amendola/Dobson with Gronk/Chandler & Lewis/White/Cadet? Is plenty of pass catching options especailly considering it is just for 6 games.

Also any WR we trade for at this point will unlikely have an instant impact and by the time they are close to up to speed Lafell should be back.

Help the D; the O will be fine. If you wanna help the O get an OL man in here.

I think LaFell misses 5 games, not 6 (bye).

How would you feel about Trading for Jordy Nelson? He is out this year and will be 31 next year. Could the Pakced be talked into moving on from him for a 2nd or Chandler Jones? It would not help us this year to trade a player for him but come next year it would be great and he is the kinda WR BB and Brady would both love I think.

Love me some Jordy, but you really wanna trade for an expensive 30 y/o WR coming off ACL surgery?

That is the point. Not that I think he could be had but this is the only time you could get someone like him for a reasonable price. He will probably only last 3-4 more years but that coincides nicely with Brady IMO.

Michael Floyd? (ARI)
Justin Hunter? (TEN)
Seth Roberts? (OAK) Malcolm Butler's college teammate
Charles Johnson? (MIN)

Randy Moss? :)

Only guys I can think of who'd be relatively cheap

Charles johnson is the number 1 receiver on the Vikings, he is going nowhere

Yep, you're right. I guess I don't hate the idea, but I don't like it either.

His cap hit is 8m, 11m, 12m over the next 3 years

I'd rather trade for Josh Gordon and give him a cheap 1-2 year contract. He'll have a great opportunity alongside Brady to set himself up for a massive payday. Of course there would have to be some type of weed/alcohol related contingencies in the contract

I would vomit all of the vomit if this trade happened. That trade is insane.

Wow! Almost two complete pages and not one person mentioning Vincent Jackson. Won't happen because his contract is ridiculous ($9.77 million base salary this year and next and he is now guaranteed the base salary this year as a vested veteran on the final 53 man roster), but people bring him up even when the Pats aren't rumored to trade for a big body WR.

To get another receiver, you have to either cut someone or trade them. There hasn't been any discussion as to who on the current roster might be released

I'm sharing information about 2 WRs people are talking about. Nothing more. And what part of "They've only got 4 WRs" has anything, at all, to do with talent level?
