Former Vikings and Tennessee CB Justin Coleman has signed a deal with the New England Patriots, source says. Brunswick HS grad.

Had an outstanding 3-cone

Hmmm...One of our CB's isn't as safe as he thought he was yesterday....

ANALYSIS
STRENGTHS
Plays an aggressive brand of football. Physical in press coverage. Saw more action in slot in 2014 to take advantage of tackling. Defeats block and launches into ball carrier with proper timing. Contain-oriented on the perimeter against run. Instinctive and comfortable in zone. Recognizes combinations and makes proper adjustments. Good ball skills -- 10 passes defensed and 4 interceptions in 2014. Played outside contain on kickoff coverage.
WEAKNESSES
Short and slightly undersized for run-supporting nickel. Struggles to consistently mirror and match when challenged on outside. Plus route runners will turn him around. A shade slow to transition on throws in front of him. Will give up separation on crossers and verticals. Gets to catch point a shade early and could see more flags in NFL. Average hips with questionable speed.
DRAFT PROJECTION
Round 5 or 6
BOTTOM LINE
Plays with energy and confidence and is a good finisher in run support. Has desired instincts and awareness in coverage, but lacks athleticism to match up against quicker targets in man coverage. Could be tough to cut based on toughness and ability to play on special teams.

From NFL.com

5-11, 185lbs at combine. Had a 6.61 3-cone and a 3.98 shuttle and ran a 4.53 forty.

Mike Loyko notes his similar athleticism to Darryl Roberts.

IMO Scrap and Brown are the only CB safe.

I know Fletcher didn't play last night but that means nothing to me.

37 vertical too. Roberts was a 38 vertical.

@Ryan_Riddle: UDFA CB Justin Coleman was cut by the Vikings. I think he has a career in the NFL.

@mike_e_kaye: Former Tennessee and Vikings CB Justin Coleman has received interest from at least three teams since being waived, per source.

@joeyt5656: The Vikings cut CB Justin Coleman but they are very deep at DB. With all our secondary injuries the #Redskins should take a good long look.

Kid sounds better than Ryan/McClain already

I like who we currently have at CB also with the likes of the Athletic Mayo and Collins we have LB's who can be a factor in Zone coverage.

Sounds like the Pats are planning to put him on the practice squad.

I'm confused. "Signed" is clear and cannot mean PS, so which is it?

Agreed. They really only have 2.5 CBs worth keeping so snagging one off the wire is unsurprising.

I disagree about Fletcher. If the team had any doubt, he would have been out there.

I agree.

Their TE coverage still concerns me. Hopefully they can figure that one out.

I thought pre-draft that he was someone who would interest BB. I can imagine that it came down to Roberts v Coleman with Roberts getting the edge.

Based on those tweets it sounds like the Pats have agreed to terms but won't process the deal until Sunday when the rosters have been finalized, which is when you start putting your PS together.

I dunna know. Hes been more good than bad for sure. He hasn't wow'ed me. We've seen BB sit guys in the 4th game and get cut. I expect the unexpected with him. With that said I agree that he is better than McClain, Ryan and Swanson which I guess isn't saying much.

This front office is incredible. So proactive.
