Here is the problem : maybe the commish actually has NO power at all. Maybe the 40M$+ is just to "be embarrassed instead of the owners".

I have no respect for RG. But maybe he is like Homer when he was the head of the Union at the PowerPlant. A boob.

That about sums it up. Although I didn't know those anecdotes she talked about which show what a freakin' loose cannon toddler this jerk is.

He is such a miserable sack of ****. Truly, I never seen such a scummy, lying, back stabbing villain, ever. You couldn't put him as the bad guy in a movie because it would be too unbelievable. What a dishonest hypocrite spouting "integrity of the game" while he leaks one lie after another in a Hitleresque propaganda machine. Roger Goodell is an evil man.

The Brady case is a huge loss for the NFL. It has opened the league to legal challenges from every dog-fighter and wife-beater it seeks to discipline for workplace violations. It’s the biggest threat to control of its affairs since Al Davis won the right to relocate the Oakland Raiders. And it’s all the result of a terrible temperamental flaw in Goodell.

I could read this a million times and smile a million times. Roger Goodell, the arrogant prick, was too stubborn to even consider settling despite that he had absolutely nothing and knew it. And now...well...read it again.

I know what Jerry Thornton's doing tonight.

And here's the money shot:

The Brady case is really about one man’s immoderate need to horsewhip others. Taken with other anecdotes of Goodell over the years, a picture emerges of a stubborn desire to break those who oppose or question him, to bend them to his will when it comes to his personal authority.

And worth noting as well:

The NFL is comprised of 32 large-egoed billionaires who employ nearly 1,800 large-egoed millionaires, all of them envious, querulous and occasionally paranoid competitors. Goodell’s one and only job is to arbitrate quarrels with reason and dispassion, so as to instill public confidence in the league. He has totally failed.

I'm glad she brought this up:

"Then there was his reaction in the news conference when he first announced the hiring of Ted Wells to conduct the Brady investigation, and CNN sports anchor Rachel Nichols questioned him over whether Wells could be truly independent, given how much work his firm gets from the league. Goodell condescendingly sneered at her for pinpointing what would turn out to be the legal crux of the matter."

I had forgotten about this. Someone had posted a video or voice recording of the encounter.

Sally has been killing it this whole time. She has had the guts to say what we know is true. Of course she is a gifted writer who guts Goodell like a hibachi chef.

Mods, please merge with the thread started by h0c2000. I didn't see his thread when I started this one.

Me too, that's a great point. I remember being put off by it in a pretty big way when it happened, but completely forgot about it in the aftermath, what with the SB win and all.

Wow, goodys a bigger dbag than I even thought, he really does think he's God.

"Rather, the critical document that got Goodell overturned was his own incompetently written decision as an arbitrator, a sheaf of papers full of wrenching distortions and irrational legal leaps, which radiated Goodell’s supercilious high-dudgeon persona."

No, that can't be right, Lester Munson said that it was "brilliantly reasoned!"
