Kraft still sucking up to Goodell

Kraft has to choose his words carefully. He signed a document that cannot publicly criticize the League or its commissioner. So he can attack the lawyers who are not employed by the NFL as a way to get around it.
Or what? Roger takes his money and his draft picks? He already said "I was wrong to place my faith in the league." Some could interpret that as, well, criticism of the league.

He treaded the line on that one. It was close. I still think Goodell would have no problem coming down on him if he steps over the line.

That was a brave statement, Fnordie. I don't necessarily agree with all of it, but I do appreciate the courage it took to write, given today's climate.

On the surface Kraft is well deserving of his unpopularity due his actions.....as we know of them. I'm willing to be critical of him now, but couch that criticism with the understanding that there "could' be things more involved than what we know that might mitigate some of the negativity. Too bad we are likely going to have to wait for BB's memoirs before we find out the truth
too bad that the truth will be told 30 years from now, but i dont see any reasonable explanation for Kraft spineless act.
All the money and the best legal experts in the world and he DEMANDED apologie and later he backs off, saying that he s trying help Brady. Sorry, he is businessman who can manipulate ppl and he is old enough to judge characters. I wasnt aware about Spygate scandal until deflategate, i am patsfan since 2005 or maybe even earlier, but hardcorefan since 2010 when i finally got proper ineternet connection. And reading bout spygate, boy my hate over Kraft is............
Reading bout Bountyscandal and Kraft again on Godell side.

Last year Rice scandal and Godell investigating himself and Kraft back him up. Cmon, i was angry at Kraft last year too

And last year i was furious on Hardy and then mad furios on AP case.
AP beat child with the cord, its in newspaper and Peterson was indicted on child abuse charges, Godell placed him on the NFL’s Exempt/Commissioner’s Permission list, which requires that Peterson "remain away from all team activities.
After accepting a plea deal in early November, Peterson planned on returning as early as week 11 but
NFL announced that Peterson would be suspended for at least the remainder of the 2014 season with no pay.
Where is here integrity of game?????Peterson sits whole year out cause he beat his own child?? i dont agree this is the answer but cmon, whole year???
1 game to show integrity and future warning for other players.
Kraft is always backing him, so.......

Schefter on WEEI today:

“I don’t think it’s [Roger firing] going to happen initially,” he said. “Will there be long-term fallout? Yes. I’ve been talking to one owner this morning and he was like, ‘Roger Goodell is not in jeopardy here, Roger is fine.’ [It] was pointed out that the Kraft’s are supposedly fine with Roger Goodell.”

Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.
Now that Goodell has been embarrassed by Brady, I'm sure Kensil, Vincent, Pash and crew are already planning the next sting. I think they are at the stage of finding something they can be more secretive about this time around.

You mean the man he is fine with. We have seen the return of the real Bob Kraft the one who is in an abusive relationship with Goodell in which he has a blind spot that will never change. The one who is all about getting along with his fellow owners no matter what happens to his team or its fans. The one who will pay any penalty with hardly a whimper justified or not. You can forget all the bravado and his mea culpa that was just a staged PR move that he fooled some of us with.

I'm going to secretly hope that Kraft is smarter than he acts and that his public image regarding Goodell is hiding his vengence to get him the hell out of the league.
It's a long shot, but there is nothing to gain by Kraft or any of the owners trashing Goodell publicly even if they are having private calls about how quickly they can remove that stain from their shield.
I think when it happens it will happen quickly and be a surprise because if 'the 32' know anything its PR and there is no good a in saying anything but supportive platitudes until, and even after, he is gone.

The one thing we have in support of this theory is that Jonathan publicly called out the fact that Goodell has more authority than he can handle, and needs to be stripped of at least some of it. I don't think we're likely to get a more pointed public quote from a Kraft than that. That's a pretty aggressive reading of what he said, I realize, but it pretty well sums up the content of it.

I agree it's a huge long shot though. I'm more hopeful that Bob and Jonathan fundamentally disagree here, and that when JK takes over in a few years we'll have an owner who's more able/willing to stand up to league malice/incompetence.

His statement is consistent with what he has said in the past. Here is a statement from Kraft during the CBA process.

In my opinion, we could get a deal done in the next week,” Kraft said. “If business people sat down on both sides, and we tried to get the lawyers in the background. . . . Get lawyers away from table. Lawyers are deal breakers, not deal makers.”

This after the verdict on Brady's appeal.

I have often said, ‘If you want to get a deal done, sometimes you have to get the lawyers out of the room.’ I had hoped that Tom Brady’s appeal to the league would provide Roger Goodell the necessary explanation to overturn his suspension. Now, the league has taken the matter to court, which is a tactic that only a lawyer would recommend.

It's clear he places a lot of the blame on the lawyers for this even getting as far as the court. It's so sad that Kraft and the other owners can't see past that fake smile on Goodell's face. Goodell was fully aware that if he if won this case, he could do whatever he wanted using integrity of the game as the basis of his punishments. I'm sorry Mr Kraft but Goodell knew this was going to court before the appeal was even heard and was fully in support of it. I think Kraft still thinks Goodell is one of the good guys that's just getting bad advice from his staff.

Yeah, Krafts actions are horrific, and I am not one to believe there is something mystical going on so I can feel better about that. I'm just saying that any move to oust Goodell would definitely be done stealthily.

They should expect a call from Sean Payton.

Oh yeah, the lawyers me do it.

Just realize that there is no frontal attack or stealth move that is going to remove Goodell especially led by Kraft. He has proven he doesn't have enough influence to screw in a light bulb in the League office nor any inclination to remove someone he is fine with. All you will get from Bob is a lot of hot air about lawyers and not one word about who hired them.

Kraft - They can keep your money, but I want my draft pick back. Please go get it back.

Per Jonathan, regarding going after the picks:

Robert's a man of his word....

Getting Tom cleared was more important than anything else...

We're part of a partnership...

It's not our intention...

So there you have it. Bob's going to stay in the barrel.

Also, per Jonathan....

There would have been a banner w/out Brady, but it wouldn't have been a SB banner. It would have had the #12 on it, and other things as well

It's not our intention...

He prefaced that comment by saying: "I would never say never, but it's not out intention (to get the picks back)"

Dunno what he meant by "never say never," but take it for what its worth
