I hate to be a wet blanket, BUT, I'm currently watching the NFLN's reporting on the breaking news, and the 2 items that I'm not hearing is, "clearly Brady and the Pats didn't do anything in the first place", and "the League's malicious prosecution was one of the key reasons for the win."

Basically all I'm hearing is Rappaport telling us that this is all about the issues with the policies and procedure (Pash not being available) (files not being available) (no prior notice) etc. Others are talking about the importance of what it means to the NFLPA. But NO one has had the guts to just say that the Pats didn't do anything and its all coming out. So as of this moment its, "Breaking news, Brady beat the rap". Even in the Judge's comments he says that no player probably knew about any deflation, BUT he doesn't say its unlikely anything happened at all. In fact with the words I saw, he IMPLIES, that something actually did, but just Brady can't be proven to know about it.

Now maybe I'm being too invested in the concept that this has to go to a defamation case for the NFL to get fully exposed. This IS great news, but only as far as it goes. It solves the immediate problem, but not the long term one about Tom's legacy and the Pats as serial cheaters.

the NFLN will never admit that the NFL got it wrong

Wheres my Scarface "say hello to my little friend" GIF when I need it!

Thanks for letting me know I should wait until 2:00 to get my rocks off.
Eh. Merloni and Fauria are giving him a pretty hard time. Not to mention the callers. Pretty funny.

Wow, that coming from King. Shocked.

He's a tool. All he does is play both sides of fence when he feels it is appropriate, he jumps to the other side. **** him!

I'm waiting for a take by a real lawyer on this Board, but it looks to me like he vacated primarily on Fairness and Notice, which should, in my layman's opinion, should make it hard to overturn on Appeal.

Otherwise, GOTTA LOVE IT:

For the reasons stated herein, the Management Council's motion to confirm the arbitration
award [ECF No.4] is denied and the Players Association's motion to vacate the arbitration
award [ECF No. 28] is granted.

Brady's four-game suspension is vacated, effective immediately.

The Clerk is respectfully requested to close cases 15 Civ. 5916 and 15 Civ. 5982.

Dated: New York, New York

RICHARD M. BERMAN, U.S.D.J.

That's all this was ever about. I *wish* he could have ruled on the actual facts of the case, and ruled that the NFL's case against Brady and the Patriots was completely absurd and they should be ashamed of themselves, but he didn't actually have the legal authority to rule on that. He could only rule on process. And...well....he sure did.

"The Award is premised upon several significant legal deficiencies, including (A) inadequate notice to Brady of both his potential discipline (four game suspension) and his alleged misconduct; (B) denial of the opportunity for Brady to examine one of two lead investigators, namely NFL Executive Vice President and General Counsel Jeff Pash; and (C) denial of equal access to investigative files, including witness interview notes."

Very happy today! Now we can move onto Pittsburgh!

They are going to act like this is the OJ ruling all over again. That sort of reaction was obvious. !@#$'em.

If people haven't seen or read this its a great article.

The NFL under Goodell has been criticized for becoming quite a mess, especially when it comes to player discipline, and deflate-gate sums that up. As soon as the parties got in front of Berman, he chided the NFL, asking, “What is evidence of scheme or conspiracy that covers the January 18 game? I'm having trouble with that.” There never was any.

The entire process didn’t stand up to much scrutiny. The investigation was never independent, which became clearer as the process went along. The NFL never did anything to correct false information leaked to the media, information that Patriots owner Robert Kraft said he believes came from the NFL itself, which might have showed their mind was made up from the beginning. The lack of real evidence in the report was somewhat stunning, based on Wells’ assertions and the NFL’s punishment. And Goodell upholding an appeal that basically amounted to his own verdict really looked bad after Berman ruled against the NFL
