Official 9/3 (Possible) Decision Day: News Updates and Links

If Berman ruled for Brady, I can't envision any universe in which he then grants the NFL a stay of his decision pending appeal. Brady's punishment is for 4 weeks starting in a few days, and any appeal will take much longer than that. The NFL would effectively be saying "hey, we know you ruled against us, but can you let Brady just be punished anyways? Thanks"

Brady is a flight risk. Maybe they will let him play with a tracking bracelet?

Tomorrow is my birthday, so I have been counting on Berman's ruling being the main present. But I am not opposed to receiving my present a day early.

Does this mean good or bad for Brady or neither?

Well... Today is the day it will be vacated. It is my 4 year anniversary to my wonderful wife and we are die-hard Pats fans. So much so that we named our son Brady.
So 1 game vacated per year married x 4 = 0 games missed.

Congrats to you and your beautiful son.

Nice karma....who has more?

I disagree completely. All the NFL would be asking for is permission to enforce Bradys suspension and resulting loss of salary while the league appeals the decision. It's completely reasonable as Brady could simply make the money and games back by just playing longer than he planned on playing, whereas the league and Goodell would lose the joy of watching Brady sit out and lose millions for something he didn't do, which is something they could never get back. That's an irreparable harm to the League and Rogers happiness, and meets the criteria Berman needs.

Well, when you put it like that....

No idea. I just checked PACER (10 seconds ago) and there's been no updates. Date of last filing still listed as 9/1 and the Written Opinions Report shows nothing for the case.

I guess he's just saying he expects all that to happen today?

Is the stay/injunction filing usually before the primary ruling? Seems like it would make it anticlimactic of so.

This might be good...then again this might be bad...but this could also be neither.
And I'm not even sure what "this" is!

Sounds like you know what you're talking about. So, how will this most likely come down? A phone call with a 15 minute heads up to the parties before it goes on PACER? A phone call and a copy emailed to the Attorneys of Record for both sides before it goes up?

Can someone with legal know-how explain what this means?

I'll be pretty surprised if we get a Thursday decision. When's the last time something came through before we expected/hoped for it?

Hopefully Berman's going back and putting in some key edits in describing for the public exactly how big a of a **** up Goodell is. Twist the knife as hard as he can, etc.

That's what I think this extra-time is all about, Berman is going to rip the nfl a new one.

It's simply not right to use civil and federal courts to solve sports leagues problems. And this is becoming quite regular. There's precedence and the NFL lost all of them.

This is not real world, I mean it is, it moves a lot of money, it's a business, but sports are complementary to a society. The league is a private organization and although it is a game of public interest, it should be ruled by their own rules, as long as it is fair, and that's the genesis of this issue, the NFL is simply flat out biased and acting in bad faith to manipulate the game, and using a federal court in the process. Berman is going to put and end on this in a fashionable way.

For the people who is going to argue that the NFLPA is also using the courts, what else can Brady do? He is losing a couple million dollars and reputation here. There's nothing to settle, he is being accused of something out of nothing, what can he give in a settlement?

Anyone have the Cup of Christ or that map Ponce DeLeon used?

There is no reason for that media whore Berman not to make HIS decision TODAY!

Brady wins appeal today, starts tonight's game for 1 series, standing, major ovation.

Win next week, win superbowl, rinse, repeat. Next.

It would be ideal as of he rules for the NFL, TB12 files the injunction on 9/4, its approved and he can then be on the active roster 9/5.

Just gives people a little less stress in running paper all over the place getting signatures.

Um, actually I do. But I only break them out for special occasions. The cup only comes out for keg parties and the map is only used for mountain biking.

We can't use the word ideal anymore.

Unless you mean ideal gas law.
