Mike Freeman: League concerned fans will ‘hate’ NFL after watching ‘Concussion’ movie

Unfortunately, Goodell will have to continue stepping in crap before anything will happen. I expect him to lose his job at some point (most likely after his contract is up in 2019), but he will have to do a lot more to lose it sooner.

I do agree despite what the owners are saying publicly, I don't think he has the support the media makes it looks like.

I could see a politician have something to say about the way the NFL has done things recently.......the pols are still pretty annoyed by the way the abuse scandals were handled, and then the noise that the concussion movie is going to make.......election year coming up on top of that.

I dunno... It's not going to make a difference IMO.

All of the information/facts pertaining to the movie are already out there.

Maybe a few people who have not read up on CTE and/or Dr. Omalu will be affected by the movie upon leaving the theatre, but the majority of the die-hard NFL fans will still fervently follow the sport, and most already hate Goondell and his cadre of dunces.

I think this idea that Goodell is some kind of golden marketing genius is nuts. Most of what he's done in recent years either has caused controversy or is transparently phony. I believe the league has thrived DESPITE Goodell, not because of him.

Yea I agree, I don't think Goodell is what is making the NFL more profitable, the sport of football and people's love for it is what keeps making it more profitable.. I just think from everything you hear out of the owner's mouths, including our very own Robert Kraft, that they are perfectly happy with how hes handling his role as commissioner... as disgusting as that may be.

I agree but I don't trust this guy. Mike Freeman is a well known idiot. Anyone Remeber his article after the KC game declaring the Patriots dead? How about his article after the Wells Report saying Brady's legacy is ruined and Brady is a big liar?

Dude is the ultimate click bait.

I don't know about any Goddamned Movie, but I hate the NFL right NOW. And that's after a total love affair with the game of football and following the Pats since they played at BU field, wearing old Pats equipment and being coached by Bob Dee in my Quincy Giant days.

I hate the Shield and what it has come to stand for. I don't need a damned movie to make me do that.

BTW- I probably hate the movie too. I hate the fact that the concussion and CTE problems the NFL has had are getting mixed up with the problems that happen in HS football and to a slightly bigger degree in college. And because of it a lot of kids are going to be scared away from playing a great game that will teach them more life lessons than they will get playing any other team sport.

I would not be surprised to see that concussion problems in HS football are not worse than concussion issues in soccer. And they both would DWARF the head injury issues of HS kids who drive. And we don't see any movies being made highlighting CTE in teens from car wrecks.

BOTTOM Line, the CTE and concussion issues in the NFL where the size and speed creates collisions that we never would see at the HS level, is a different issue and should be looked at differently

Ken, can you expand on the problems in high school and football college that are unique to those levels? I'm always looking to learn more about this stuff.

The NFL is the most popular sport in the country not because of people like us, but because of the casual fans who follow the game on Sunday but aren't so much into the particulars. For those people, this movie will likely present a lot of information that they've never seen before.

Too bad Sony apparently neutered it to placate the NFL.

If you're right, then any negative reaction to the content of this movie by the casual fan is probably what the NFL is worried about.

It's too bad that Sony may have done so... Speaking for myself, after this bogus offseason, I would welcome anything that cast the League in the most unfavorable of lights.

They need to be taken down a notch and hopefully in doing so they get a new commissioner.

I hate them now

This movie wont do a thing. I am addicted to tv/movies and I have no interest in seeing it. I cant be alone on this. Maybe if Denzel was in it lol.

People only think they want harsh facts. Ignorance truly is bliss. I wish I hadnt learned about mechanically separated meat lol.
