My post, which started the discussion:

Where is there anything there about ONE playoff run?

This is my point about people moving the goalposts. I never said that Luck was the best QB in the league. I never said he was the third best, either, for that matter. I'd rank the QBs something like this:

Brady (38)
Rodgers (32)
Roethlisberger (33)
Brees (35)
Rivers (34)
Luck (26)

P. Manning (39) *

The asterisk on Manning is because I don't know exactly where to slot him, since I don't know how much of last year was because he just wore, and how much was on his injury.

So I've got Luck at #6 or #7 and rising, and at least 6 years younger than the rest of the group, while all the QBs above him would be either holding steady or falling.

That's why you take him as the Brady replacement.

Fair enough. It seems I missed that aspect when skimming through this thread.

People may make a Wilson argument, but I'd side with you on luck in that regard.

I'd probably drop Brees and have E. Manning in that list as (down a few) well (as much as that pains me)

Edit: drop Brees down a few and have eli in the mix. Posting from my phone...always an expirament...

My biggest take away is that goddamn, I didn't realize Rodgers was ONLY 32, imagine if he stays productive til Brady's age, he's pretty much already too old to come CLOSE to matching in post season success, but everyone should appreciate his abilty as a QB, he's as special as TB, but with an added athletic ability.

Rodgers is often like a surgeon out there. It's very impressive to watch. It reminds me, aesthetically, of how the Patriots looked when they let Brady cut it loose in 2007.

Chewbacca! How ya been?

Agree'd, I love watching the Packers offense, our team has a much more gritty and dirty style that I tend to love, we do things the hard way, but we are always efficient.

Still, that doesn't mean that I can't be jealous of how effortless Rodgers can make scoring look. He's one of a kind.

I have no reason to ignore you, you just seem like the person on youtube or reddit who "FIRSTS!" everything.

I don't dislike the information you generally post, you just go out of your way to make sure that it's you who provides it and noone else, as evidence by having usually half of the threads on the front page started by you.

I like being involved in discussions with other fans in this forum, regardless of who starts them. It's not as though I'm trying to compete with other posters But if there's a topic or news development I feel is important or happen to like, I won't wait for someone else to bring it up.

And by the way, you deserve that dislike for calling me an "attention whore". Next time, try to spare the name-calling.

Luck is predicated on hucking the ball all over and hoping for a play. The INT to Revis in the AFCCG. Where was that one going?

If being made to look bad and losing to the BB Patriots eliminates you from being a top QB, that is going to be one extremely tiny list.

Luck was over-touted as a sure thing. That is never a good sign IMHO. Yet he came in to the league and has been successful since day 1. And he's done this with some suspect defenses (and a half wit GM). The W-L and production statistics back this up. I tell you what, if Luck had the 2013 SF defense the last couple of years, I hate to think what that would have meant for that slime organization.

I suspect the hype turned a lot of people off on Luck. Fair enough, I get that. But Andrew Luck did not rev up or participate in the media over-love fest for him. The over-hype they spewed is on them not Luck. So while he is a putrid Colt and I hope we continue to make him look bad, from the abstract POV you have to give it up for the guy. A very decent guy and a top producing QB. That's just not in question is it??

Rodgers is the man. He just makes it all look so effortless.

Brady, Rodgers and Luck are the elite of the elite qb's right now.

BB beat Peyton like drum numerous times, but eventually he became competitive against the Pats. It could easily happen with Luck as well.

Peyton was always competitive - Luck, never. Perhaps it's because the post Polian management doesn't know how to build a team around a QB, but those are the facts.

Rodgers was off the options list, because he's an obvious 1/1a choice. He's the only QB I'd think about besides Luck, though.

As for Rivers, he'll be 34 in December, he has a 4-5 record in the playoffs, and he's only guided the Chargers to double digit win seasons in 3 of 9 seasons as the starter. I like Rivers, but I'll take the potential extra 8 years and the upside of Luck.

To be completely fair to Rivers, he had to deal with Spanos and 7 years of Norval Turner. Turned a 14-2 team into absolute crap.

It's true the Patriots have had Andrew Luck's number for whatever reason. But I feel this is the season he becomes MVP and finally beats us (in the regular season)
Andrew Luck may improve as he has better players around him on offense but that defense....

Those Colts teams were loaded.

Excuse - Gate - Get ready for another one when the Pats beat the snot out of the Colts in a few weeks.

"Pats Beat the Phuck Out of Us Again - Gate".........They can start with that until their GM and the NFL come up with a better one.

Talent was the issue on the Pats defensive side of the ball. I don't think PM improved that much. He was always great.

Those Colts teams were loaded.

Loaded with receivers and they always had at least one decent running back. On defense, they spent on two pass rushers, but the rest was undersized and just plain cheap, mostly. They had a cap same as everyone else.

The current team has not plugged it's leaks and the coronation of Luck is pretty premature, if you ask me.

Peyton was great for piling up statistics too, but he did win one, something most teams have not done.

The defenses of the 2000s Colts were not as bad as you portray.

On defense they had 2 pass rushes, scrappy quick LBs, scrappy, competitive CBs, and for like 10 games they had the DPOY in Brittle Bobby.

Also, Edgerrin James, in my mind, is a Hall of Famer - if he doesn't end up being one, he's right on the border of being one.

In terms of young, up and coming QBs, no one is even close to Luck. It just so happens that we've had his number so far, and we all hope that continues.
Yeah, and people tend to forget that we had Peyton's number early in his career too. It happens. I don't know if Luck will become the superstar that people have predicted. But I can see he looks pretty good out there and he should only get better . . . limit the turnovers, which is his biggest weakness right now to me.

With that said, F the Colts and Luck. I hope we crush them 107-7 the next time we play them. Gray AND Blount will both rush for 200 yards. LOL

I think a big part was that BB kept fooling him with things he hadn't seen before, until eventually Peyton had seen everything BB could cook up.
