No worries. I completely agree. I'm just hoping that the delay favors Brady and Berman is writing an ironclad pro-Brady decision that cannot be overturned on appeal.

Dont hold your breath. Remember: The NFL believes that Berman's opinion doesn't and shouldn't even be relevant.

I think if Berman vacates, we members of PatsFans should send him a thoughtful and sincere Thank You note. Maybe even chip in for an Edible Arrangement.

Look Ross I'm sure you are a really good
Possible reason for the delay:

Max Stendahl‏@MaxLaw360
Random Judge Berman note: He has a 2pm hearing today in an unrelated criminal case against an alleged Russian spy.

That's really weak. He's got much more important work to finish.

Unrelated, or very related? Who's to say this isn't all a Russian scheme to distract Americans while the Commies infiltrate the country??!?!

Just kidding, even the Soviet Union couldn't come up with something this daft.

You're sure I'm a really good what? Person? Husband? Role model? Karaoke singer? American Hero? I must know!

I'm thinking this might be one reason why things are delayed. It puts things in proper context: accused Russian spy vs delayed footballs

I doubt it. Having several friends who have clerked for judges at different levels, it is the clerk who does most of the research and writing of the decision. The judge tell the clerk how he is deciding, which case laws he wants to cite (usually picked from a list of laws researched and presented by the clerk), and the direction he wants to the decision to be worded. The clerk writes the most of the decision decision and the judge edits it and the clerk revises and back and forth. The only part the judge actually writes is the actual decision itself which is usually a few paragraphs in a 20-50 page document. The judge does very little of the writing and research for a decision.

You have never dealt with a court have you. Usually, if they say they will give you a decision no later than Friday, September 4th, it means you won't see a decision until February. If and when Judge Berman gives a decision by Friday, it will be one of the quickest turnarounds in Federal court history.

To be fair, I consider quite a accomplishment to have never been summoned to court.

Can't trust a judge who gives you a window on when to expect his ruling and then turnaround and give you it late.

If by no later than friday, he means Friday than that's exactly what he should of said. Not professional if you ask me.

On the contrary, Berman is doing us a courtesy by letting us know how his briefing is progressing

Judges don't usually issue updates on cases under advisement. Lots of attorneys now saying, man I wish I could get an update on my case

That Berman thought it important 2 issue order 2 let people know it was going to be longer shows he knows how much attention this is getting

His awareness of the stakes should mean that whatever his decision is, it will be well-written, something he hopes holds up on appeal

according to a "source"..Berman and his buddies have their fantasy draft tonight....

so we shall have an answer tomorrow and Berman will be able to draft him Brady and get some value

And I stated that if he meant Friday then say Friday.

Let's not pretend like when he said either Tuesday or Wednesday and certainly by Friday that anyone thought Friday was the day.

I don't believe that Berman ever once said "Tues or Weds." That came from the mediots who claimed to have inside sources and stated that both parties expected something Tues/Weds.

Berman has been crystal clear the whole time that he'd try to do his best for the Sept.4th (Friday) deadline, which was requested by both sides. He also mentioned that it would be a remarkably quick turnaround.

On the 3rd day Berman will rise and issue his ruling.

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of Goodell and his men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who have attempted to poison and destroy my brother Brady. And you will know I am the Judge when I lay my vengeance upon you.

He reportedly said it. Either way I am sure he is doing the best he can to get it done properly.

Berman said he "fully expects" to issue a decision by either Tuesday or Wednesday.

"Certainly before Friday," Berman said

I like this version better :)

"I'm grabbing a routine vaccination with chicken and sweet carp on the side"

Unrelated, or very related?

He added "Unrelated" for the Volin types.

We might have heard Brady is actually a russian spy tomorrow.

I hate to bring this up, but this is all I'm thinking of now...

Like a car crash, you don't know whether to throw up from the carnage, or just keep looking.
