I swear, I must be living in a dream world...The 32 NFL owners are smart successful men. If Mike Freemen is right, and if this is how they truly feel, why don't they see that allowing Roger Goodell to be the face of the NFL is against their collective interest? I just don't get it.

...If concussions doesn't change their mind about Goodell
....If Ray Rice and domestic violence scandals doesn't change their mind about Goodell
....If the circus show that is Deflate Gate doesn't change their mind about Goodell

Then what will?

That Will Smith Nigerian accent is gonna end up giving me a concussion if I have to listen to it for 2+ hours.

I thought it was all right, actually. Not that I know anything about accents, except Kevin Costner's accent in Thirteen Days was horrific.

All the owners care about is money. If they start to lose money, then they will oust Goodell but not a second sooner

Well, if you look at the leaked Sony e-mails, odds are the NFL will not come off nearly as bad as people think. Sony, fearing an NFL lawsuit, supposedly toned down the accusations towards the NFL and tried to blame individual NFL employees no longer with the League as rogue employees rather than the NFL as a whole being evil.

Here's the thing though: Goodell has allowed Rice and Bounty- and Deflate- and Spy-gates to distract from the real issue of player health and safety. Say what you will but up until this movie debut he's actually done a bang-up job to keep peoples focus away from the real issues and on trumped up BS (well, in the case of Rice and Peterson it was more bungling stupidity, but you get the idea).

Whether or not that's been done by design is up for debate. I'd say no, it's a nice little benefit for the league to their commish being an incompetent Dorito dink.

Anyway, as to the OP: everyone (well, most everyone) already hates the NFL offices/management, they merely put up with it for the on-field product. Similar to FIFA, the NCAA and the IOC, their managements are all corrupt but people love the sports and athletes so they begrudgingly accept the incompetence and outright corruption.

they won't hate the NFL....just the owners and the commisioner

See that is the problem with all this. Goodell can act like a despot because no matter what he does, it doesn't hurt the bottom line. People will still watch. That is why the owners will never rock the boat and smack down Goodell.

So... they're not concerned that people will hate them for ignoring scientific evidence that led to the deaths and disabilities of a bunch of former players, and the underhanded tactics they used to cover it all up. They're concerned that those activities are somehow being portrayed in a negative light in a movie?

Yeah, couldn't help but laugh. Haven't laughed this much from Will Smith since Fresh Prince.

I think this idea that Goodell is some kind of golden marketing genius is nuts. Most of what he's done in recent years either has caused controversy or is transparently phony. I believe the league has thrived DESPITE Goodell, not because of him.

yeah.....I think there will be repercussions for the whole deflategate thing........the attitudes will change after the fact.......for every owner who is loving the pats having it handed to them, there is another who absolutely abhors the publicity being cast towards the front office

the problem the commissioners office is going to have is when a real live actual problem arises and they lack the credibility to deal with it.

What do they mean WILL hate? We can get rid of the "will" there I think.

Probably depends, what did the NFL do in regards to concussions that should make people hate them?

Unfortunately, Goodell will have to continue stepping in crap before anything will happen. I expect him to lose his job at some point (most likely after his contract is up in 2019), but he will have to do a lot more to lose it sooner.

I do agree despite what the owners are saying publicly, I don't think he has the support the media makes it looks like.
