Dan Graziano of ESPN: Brady's camp does not expect Berman to rule in their favor

Why would anyone in the NFLPA or 'Brady's camp" make a comment to Dan Graziano that they expect to lose? There is just nothing to gain from that.

I'd still be concerned with him being away from the game for a month, losing timing etc with the receivers. . And the first game back on Sunday night football against the Colts where you know they'll be tearing him to pieces on the air ...

then if he's rusty, media everywhere will be like "Tom Brady with properly inflated balls struggles mightily, is the GOAT a fraud!?" Or something along those lines[/QUOTE

Awful

At this point, I don't know of anyone in Brady's party that would willfully speak to ESPN. If Graziano does have a source, the NFL and ESPN need to be investigated for water boarding.

Easy counterargument to that: SB49.

I feel like this changes the context of those quotes a bit:

So, Graziano essentially just said it's not new information, it's strictly based on the fact that private business arbitration awards are rarely overturned.

So yeah, more pro-NFL, anti-Brady spin framed as new information from a "source" ... when in reality, it's something we've known for quite awhile.

Why do they do this?

I agree, but someone in the NFLPA might. Anyone who's in any way close to the NFLPA legal team could be the source that he's referring to.

I think he could be telling the truth, in that there very well could be someone close to someone on the NFLPA legal team who thinks that Brady's facing an uphill battle. We've all known that from day one.

As long as this report isn't based on new-ish information that we don't have, I'm going to try not to worry too much about it.

Basically, they are saying what everyone has said all along. They like their case, think it has a better chance at being overturned than most arbitration awards, but realize its an uphill battle. I call this "nothing news."
Exactly. This is a total non-story. All this "source" is saying is essentially "arbitration awards aren't overturned too often, so we think it's more likely than not that we lose. However, we have a great case so we remain optimistic." A.K.A. the same crap we've been hearing all summer.

I don't know who this guy is and how reliable he is, I just think at least 80% of "sources told me" news published in these days are fabricated. For me it's BS, the press is not getting any info from either Berman or Brady camp. NFL's side on the other hand uses the press to control public opinion.

Why would anyone in the NFLPA or 'Brady's camp" make a comment to Dan Graziano that they expect to lose? There is just nothing to gain from that.

Especially at this stage in the game and when they've virtually been silent in the press other than to refute nfl spin.

Probably Kensil doing his Giselle impression again....

Are you saying that ESPN should be investigated FOR waterboarding or that they should be subjected TO waterboarding?

reverse psychology

I abhor torture and the death penalty and you're seriously making me reconsider those stances.

Like, it would be silly to say "we expect Berman to rule in our favor." Anyone with half a brain here knows they can't expect to win, since it's not a common thing. You don't play a game of poker with 9 other guys expecting to win, because you know it's not the most likely outcome, but you still play your best and see how it works out.

Considering the number of cases vs. the number which were overturned, it makes losing more likely in general. However, considering the specifics of this case, there's significant reason to be optimistic.

I'm pretty sure what anyone thinks will happen doesn't effect what will actually happen otherwise the collective hopes of this board would have made Berman execute Goodell with a samurai sword already.

To compare - if you look at your weather forecast and see it's a 30% chance of rain tonight, you wouldn't say "I expect it to rain". It's 70% likely it will not rain. But that doesn't mean it won't rain. This all basically boils down to twisting words into a quote that implies something that the source didn't really mean.

We're on to Pittsburg.

"On the union/Brady side" =/= "Brady's camp." Why on Earth would the NFLPA or Kessler say anything like this in the first place?

I think our side is VERY confident of victory. If they did leak this, it could be to show some humility/underdog status rather than brag they're going to win and have Berman start reading that.
