Wow....dude was a first rounder. Michael Lombardi will tell Belichick whether or not to look into him. Personally, I'm content with the current DL.

They must really like Danny Shelton then. Taylor could play before that knee injury.

I remember wanting the Pats to trade for him 2 years ago when Wilfork went down

I wonder if the Pats will be interested

Sign him! But between Brown and Siliga I think we have the fatty role pretty well covered. We need penetrator like Easley.

Sign the beast...?

IMO, nah, they're pretty stacked along the DL, including three 1st round draft picks. Brown/Branch/Siliga are all capable of doing the same thing as Taylor and there's already a logjam along the DL as is. Good player when healthy, but there's little opportunity for him to make the NE roster. Colts wouldn't shock me, but then again they'll probably sign another receiver and a koosh vortex before signing someone who could actually help address a need.

The Browns, because they are the Browns, picked up his fifth year option so they owe him hi whole 5.4 million salary. By releasing him, they can get an off-set by whatever his new team pays him.

So they basically just released a guy they have to pay 5.4 million to......

In 2011 the Falcons sent the Browns a first-round pick (No. 27), a second-round pick (No. 59) and a fourth-round pick (No. 124), and also chipped in the No. 1 pick in 2012 (No. 22) and their No. 4 pick in 2012 (No. 118).

All to draft one player at #6. Julio Jones.

Cleveland's haul: The first-round pick in 2011 was used to trade up and select defensive tackle Phil Taylor. The next three picks were used on Greg Little, Owen Marecic and Brandon Weeden, while the fourth-round selection in 2012 was sent in the package deal that landed the Browns Trent Richardson.

Nothing is left. Zip. Nada.

Ouch.

That's the kind of deal that a good GM will use to build a foundation for years to come. The Browns, OTOH... just do what the Browns do.

The defensive line position is one that I am pretty confident in, I think we stay put with what we have.

I would take a look at him. I don't think you can have to much DL depth.

That's incredible, though don't the Browns still have a first round draftee from trading Richardson?

Cleveland used that 2014 first-rounder from Indy and included their third-rounder in a trade with Philly in order to move up 4 places, from 26 to 22, and then select…Johnny FoolsBall.
The cycle of Fail is complete.

Here have a laugh:
http://www.barkinghard.com/forums/showthread.php?158289-Phil-Taylor-GONE!

Twitter all abuzz about the lack of value for the Julio Jones trade. But Jones could have been Blackmon. Weeden could have at least been Dalton. Taylor was highly ranked. That's all the revisionist history hindsight 20/20 ********.

We have probowler Mack and Sanchez is a back up. Blah Blah Blah.

IS Taylor upgrade over Branch?

Who do you cut for this guy? I think we are already going to cut a few dl who end up with jobs elsewhere. If he was worth picking up (for us) he probably wouldn't have list his job...

Why zero? It certainly isn't because he's that good.

Agreed. I'm guessing the poster feels that way due to needing a big body such as Brown and Siliga.

Either way, Branch isn't exactly a sure thing no matter how you look at it.
