OT - Ordway to join Merloni and Fauria on the WEEI mid-day show

So long as they let him talk about the one sport he knows sometimes, basketball.
I have a theory that when his wife gave birth to their child and the child almost passed away, it changed him. It seemed after that he didn't give a crap anymore. It was like he decided that there is more important stuff in the world than the Winer Line and Fred Smerlas' smelly feet. Based on the hell he went though, it is totally understandable. He gained perspective. He didn't have the fight to go after the Sports Hub. He just wanted to goof off.

I think the time away was good for Ordway. This time around, he needs to refrain from talking about the nuances of the sport and have fun setting people up in a fun, but controlled way. He does a good enough job of doing his homework, outlining the format and orchestrating the show. For example, tee up the football talk and let Fauria go. Tee up the baseball talk and let Lou go. He went on autopilot and got lazy at the end in EEI. Have fun but dont let it become a Delta House.

Ordway needs to leave his ego at the door and rededicate himself to his craft.

I'm happy to hear that Ordway's coming back to EEI; I always liked tuning into The Big Show and seeing which guests were there that day and always enjoyed Buckley, McAdam and some of the others, although it did run out of steam at the end.

As long as it's not Tanguay--I never would have listened if that were the case.

Seems to me that the days of Fauria are numbered as I don't see his pairing well with Ordway, and I expect Merloni to move to the Sox radio broadcasts. My guess is we'll see a whole new show in the 10-2 slot.

I agree with those who've enjoyed hearing more of Danny Picard--he brings a certain fan's excitement and a local flavor to the airwaves.

I hear Eddie Andelman is going to team up with Mike Adams and Mutt for the 6-midnight shift.

I tell you what.

Take out Mutt from that equation - and you mean to tell me you wouldn't listen to a hypothetical Andelman and Adams talk nonsense to each other for 6 hours every night?

I would, just for trainwreck potential.

Add me to the list of people enjoying how pissed Tanguay must be feeling right now. Apparently the powers-that-be at WEEI decided not to hire contrarian trolls like the other station does.

...and what's annoying is that he thinks the hate mail is because he has been steadfast in his belief that Brady did something.

The reason he didn't get the job is because he is a pretentious, elitist, condescending, over the top contrarian hack who lacks the ability and substance to build an argument based on reason and facts. He never really did his homework and listeners saw right through him struggle with an identity crisis.

In other words, hes was a fake, useless and brought nothing to the table.

At least with Ordway there is some logic, intelligence and depth there and if forced to listen people won't start pulling their hair out.

Ordway got in trouble when he lost control of the Big Show and gave waaaay to much unstructured platform time to idiots like Sheppard (who I like...call it a weakness) DeOssie, Smerlas and that sniveling hack Bill Burt.

Merloni will control himself. He needs to mentor and control Fauria as he can get a little goofy from time to time.

Right on the money. My issue with Tanguay more than anything was his willingness to try and say whatever would get him a job. He thought calling Brady " a liar," and "a cheat" would get the calls and clicks needed to get someone in media to bring him on board just to piss Patriot fans off and create a stir and ratings. That's as weak as it gets, I will say anything and demean anyone to get a job, what a douchebag.

Yep. IMO Felger always stopped short of calling Brady a cheat but essentially did.

Tanguay went right at it and it killed him. Now his shtick is that of a ultra-contrarian who trolls the fan base without a solid argument. Hes a niche player now. Hes done (I hope)

Someone mentioned Danny Pickard before ... never liked him ... mostly due to that voice.

But I had several long drives to make last week on the Mass Pike so I tried to listen to him a bit better.

He has game ... he has lots of game ... I would can Minihane and give Pickard his slot all day long.

Minihane is closing in on Felger and Mazz for biggest radio douchebag locally on radio.

WEEI needs to blow up that morning show ... D&C had their day ... their fastball is long gone.

Picard is ok. I did a ton of driving back and forth to Beth Israel this winter (mom had heart surgery and complications but 100% now) and I listened to him. He was ok. Slightly annoying but not insufferable

But that voice....reminds me of that comedy team The Jerky Boys. I used to listen to them in college.

I think Minihane was visited by 3 ghosts. Hes changed his tune a little. He doesnt troll as bad. I think time with Tanguary and Tonic helped him understand what being marginalized and shut out really is.

Minirat has toned it down quite a bit.

Why does lou still have a job on the radio, and why does fauria have one at all?

Haven't been impressed with Fauria on the pre-season broadcasts, so I imagine that he's probably close to the same during the 10-2 show. Too goofy for my taste; I'm more of a Chatham-type.

For once, could you just tell us how you really feel?

I actually liked Danny Picard on that show last week.

Tanguay is a tool and Ordway is overbearing.

Should have brought the kid in. It was a lively, high energy listen. Not sure if it was sustainable, but I loved the Southie flavah.
Agreed 100%. Not only was Piccard great, but M & F were noticeably into it and feeding off him in a way they hadn't with any of the other guys. I was initially hoping Big O came back at some point, but after listening last week they made a mistake not picking Piccard. He was awesome, engaging, and tons of energy

Minirat has toned it down quite a bit.

He had too. He's been suspended way too many times already. He had the Erin Andrews incident, and a couple of months ago he had a live heated argument with Fauria.

He's way to obnoxious, in your face.

Regarding Big O, im glad he's back on the air. The Big Show used to be must hear radio for me, but EEI killed it when they wanted to become just about the Red Sox, and ignored the other Boston teams. Actually the best moments on that show believe it or not usually involved Felger. From Willie McGinest questioning Felger's sexuality to Sean McAdams calling Felger mr.baseball. It was hilarious.

One thing for sure ...EEI has some mutt near the top who "thinks" a Mike Salk or a Tim Benz is a great fit for southern New England sports radio. THAT mutt should be tied to a freakin' telephone pole and forced to listen to Frank from Gloucester until his head explodes.

Sulk and his "gut feeling" BS. "I don't know it's just a gut feeling". Very Volinistic and 'Mort" ifying.

Glad that didn't last long.
