Patriots release WR Josh Boyce, WR Jonathan Krause, TE Jimmay Mundine, DL Joe Vellano and LB Dekoda Watson.

This cut gets the Patriots down to 79. Have to be at 75 by Tuesday at 4:00

Patriots cut 5 players

Josh Boyce
Jonathan Krause
Jimmay Mundine
Joe Vellano
Dekoda Watson

Some of those guys got SB rings, and millions of dollars in the bank. Not that I don't feel bad for em, but they will most likely wind up on another team.

I just started a thread on this because yours hadn't shown up on my screen, even after a refresh. My apologies.

IIRC, the Patriots will sometimes bury a guy in the trash of the 75 cutdown that they intend to bring back on the PS. Any takers there?

Boyce is pretty early, that first preseason game really killed his chances it seems. Surprised a bit about Krause, would have thought practice squad material as before. Vellano is a long time coming...

Here's hoping they'll be able to cut Lindley tomorrow afternoon....

My prediction: Brandon King, Zach D'Orazio, DJ Lynch, Tony Creecy will be cut tomorrow

No worries!

Don't they need Lindley for the final preseason game?

Very possibly Mundine. He does seem to be a good fit for the move TE/H-Back roll. Plus he has the size to play that FB roll if it was something he was willing to learn.

D'Orazio outlasting Boyce and Krause is a bit odd

I suppose that's fair; wouldn't really want to see Garoppolo get hurt even as the number 2 qb to start the season.

Reading some of these headlines, it's like everybody has forgotten that Boyce was also cut a year and a day ago.

Boyce and Krause were waived with an injury designation, so there's a chance they'll revert to IR or reach an injury settlement after clearing waivers per Doug Kyed. It's time to part ways with Boyce but Krause looked like he might take a PS spot.
