OT - The best QB in the NFL benched & replaced by Kirk Cousins

But would it have been less criminal to put Cousins behind that line? RG3 was obviously not locked in as the starter.

Good point. It's definitely a mess.

Apparently "sources say" they were shopping for a trade partner and no one was interested.

Perhaps they wanted 3 1st for him? The Jetskins are this dumb.

RG3 right now is worth a conditional 3rd, tops.

I think it might have something to do with the 16 million RG3 would be owed in 2016 if he gets hurt.

There is a clause in his contract that guarantees his $16 million salary next year only if he is injured. I don't think anyone would want to have any part of that clause when he hasn't proven he is starter material and has a history of injury. Because of that clause, the Redskins would be wise to cut him at this point.

I know this this for sure being Second string QB in DC and Houston means you will be starting in no time. None of those guys can take a hit! RG III - Mallett give peace a chance.

RGIII may or may not be a bust but the coaches and team he has played for are a joke!
Shanahan was not now or has he ever been a good QB coach. He has had trouble with all his QB's. He was a bad mentor for a rookie QB.
Gruden on the other hand is just a bad coach pure and simple. How he ever made it to be a head coach is beyond me. Even the Redskins deserve a better coach!

@Buccigross: Jameis Winston: 6-15, 90 Pass yds, 1 Int, sacked 4 times (48.9 Comp pct, 0 TD, 2 Int, 7 sacks this preseason)

Imagine if Jimmy G played for Baylor or FSU instead of Eastern Illinois.

Ouch Danny Weurrfel..we really have been spoiled!

He needs a fresh start. That was criminal leaving him in a pre season game behind that line.

I'm not sure how he is in the locker room but the only source I've heard was from the NFL which as we have learned is agenda driven crap anyways.

Yeah, the entire thing stinks to high heaven. That franchise is toxic, from head to toe.

Snyder is an idiot. To paraphrase Volin, my gut : Gruden hates RG and has been trying to get rid of him since he got there.

Some on here will point to the rookie season. I think his rookie season was like the wildcat. Worked, but was destined to be figured out.

is it just me, or is RG3 getting a bad rap. I was the first to point out that I didn't think he was big enough to play QB in the NFL.

He is heavier and 2 inches taller than my QB Brees. Why are you picking on my quarterback ?:mad::mad::mad:

I disagree. RG3 wasn't a one-trick pony like Vince Young during his rookie season; he only threw 4 INTs. Then his knee got messed up, they kept throwing him out there before he had healed, and Gruden decided he hated him and frankly it seemed like he's actively trying to make him fail, which puts all that stuff about him being a problem in the locker room in context: just a franchise leaking through its media lackeys.

That franchise would have ruined Andrew Luck just as badly. It doesn't matter who goes there. It's totally toxic.

RGIII is similar and dissimilar to Tim Tebow. Needs to learn how to play in the pocket. Unclear if he can read a defense. Needs to learn how to "feel" blindside pressure. Has supreme self-confidence. Desperately needs a second chance without the pressure. But RGIII has an elite arm that reminds me of Joe Flacco or Russell Wilson.

RGIII would look good as a backup in New England if he gets released. He's in the fourth year of his rookie deal, so it looks very cheap if he restructures his optionyear. A year or two with Brady and Garoppolo to heal and learn how to play QB in the NFL would be tremendous for a guy with his talent.

Letting RGIII and Garoppolo duke it out for the starting job when Brady steps down would be ideal, and the loser would attract a lot in return.

I want no part with this douche in New England, send him to the Jests, he and Geno could fight for the starter job, ehh, maybe fight is not an appropriate verb here. They could battle for that job, eh..well ok, compete.

A big problem is that the fifth-year option of $16M is already fully guaranteed against injury. In other words, if he suffered an injury this year that hampered his ability to play in 2016, the team that trades for him would still be required to pay him nearly $1M a week.

is it just me, or is RG3 getting a bad rap. I was the first to point out that I didn't think he was big enough to play QB in the NFL. He was good his rookie year, but his body just broke down on him. (and his coach leaving him out there was almost criminal).

But from then on, its been people digging on him. He seems like a nice enough kid, doesn't get into trouble. Why so much hate? I'll be the first to admit he can't play QB in the NFL, but it seems that there was been an inordinate amount of attacks on his character.

Because he completely changed as soon as the draft was over? Was he doing drugs, beating women or racing his car? No. But when you present yourself as humble, militiary, Jesus boy for 5 months and then immediately come out talking trash people are going to be hard on you.

He won ROY, so not even close. It's like people who say this never even saw Ryan Leaf or JaMarcus Russell play.

If you want to call it the worst draft day trade ever, then sure, I can get behind that. But that's a whole separate thing.

Even then I would vote for Ditka trading his entire draft for Ricky Williams.
