Strange how that scandal - NFL Employee Stealing Game Balls Intended for Charity - got completely swept under the rug. No investigation, who else was "generally aware" of this, who else benefited? WOuld not surprise me if there were folks in the front office making money off of this.

Equally strange is that it was an enormous story for the few minutes the Patriots were involved.

Irrefutable evidence that none of this has been about the crime, just the accused.

There was no tampering of the balls, no matter how you want to parse it.

That has not been proven.

There is ZERO evidence that ANYTHING happened,

That is incorrect.

and for a 2nd time I ask you to provide some that would make a reasonable man think that "a crime took place". Still waiting.

The problem here is that you don't seem to understand that the words you keep choosing mean specific things in law. That's not my fault. I've tried to explain this stuff since day one. Perhaps if you'd been reading my posts (and the posts of several others who've also helped with this) with an interest in learning, rather than a desire to get off personal shots, you'd have figured it out by now.

Proving a negative is generally undoable. I cannot prove that a football was not slightly deflated by using a needle after inspection. I also cannot prove that I did not conspire to assassinate JFK. I was only two months old at the time, so my involvement would have been quite remarkable, but I cannot even speak to my general awareness at that time. Most likely, going through my mind at that time was the thought "boobs! need!"

Much as I hate to say it I don't believe the will be a defamation suit, I think Brady wants this over with, period, and wants his head back in football. An appeal by the NFL won't take up much of his time going forward so it would be pretty much done for note if Berman vacates without the resort to re arbitration.

Try using a little bit of diplomacy in how you go about correcting people. I think you'd find that you'll receive a lot less personal attacks/snark... not that you really should be calling people out for either.

Huh. Funny...That's exactly what was going through my head at the time. What a remarkable Coincidence.

All the more so, considering that I was 18 at the time.

I have not had a chance to read all your post, but I am wondering, what is a main piece of evidence that something happened to the balls?

Unfortunately when we look back at this whole thing in a few years, the only thing that will stand out is Brady and the Pats cheated.

The NFL won, plain and simple.

Doesnt even matter to the outcome of the case tomorrow. The damage is done.
I used to think this. I'm not so sure anymore. The NFL has been pretty well exposed as a gang of bumbling, incompetent, corrupt nitwits, more likely than not to shoot off their own feet. I think that narrative is only going to grow over time. I'd love to see someone write an expose book. The NFL: The Gang That Couldn't Shoot Straight.

and guess what...the only thing left in my 9 year tirade against Roger Goodell is his indictment IN FEDERAL COURT...I don't care what the charges are...just get this arrogant pinhead in a REAL court of law...I want to see him grovel like the little rich kid moron punk he is inside.
I hear you my wisdom well of all lil Roger's strays from Daddy's efforts to hide his stupidity.

Palm beach is right you can't prove a negative. If someone accused me of killing off the dinosaurs there is a small chance I had access to a time machine and some nuclear warheads. What we can use though is common sense and any rational person would realize it's unlikely someone would go into a bathroom to let out 2/10th of a psi from however many balls according to one gauge. Couple that with no confessions during hours of interrogation, no direct proof, and a testimony under oath for a non-criminal activity. What you have is all the evidence you need to determine innocence.

I've heard callers of a few contrarian radio shows explain this value to them and their replies were "what about the bathroom trip", "what about the text".....

It doesn't cross their mind that the 0.2 psi does not equal an attempt to gain a competitive advantage, will not improve fumble rates, or prove that Brady wanted to cheat the system.

Regarding fumble rates, that theory has been debunked.

Unfortunately, many fans and media members only remember the original story - not at all dissimilar to how the original inaccurate reports by the NFL via Mortensen and King are the ones still remembered and referenced. End result is that too many still consider it to be a fact, and more "proof".

If I recall, the Patriots fumble rate on the road (where they did not bring their own ballboys) was lower than their fumble rate at home.

This is a sample size of one, so it can't be used for a statistical analysis, but how do the fumble truthers explain the Jets game at Gillette last season? The footballs were overinflated to 16 PSI, above the legal limit and much higher than the alleged sub 12.5 PSI that the Patriots schemed to use to basically eliminate any fumbles. One would expect that this would lead to many fumbles and miscues by New England. In reality, the Patriots had zero fumbles that game. Maybe the PSI/fumble relationship is overstated.
