The more I think about it, the better idea this seems. He can replace/upgrade both Gray and Cadet. And save a roster spot.

Actually Marqui we Love Gray!

Blount's stats combined with the Steelers and Patriots last year weren't much more impressive than Jackson's, and the latter is one of the better receiving and pass protecting backs in the league while Blount needs to come off the field on third down. It's not a decision you'd need to make week 1 anyways.

I agree but you don't cut or not play Bount over Fred Jackson. Different players. Different roles.

Emergence of Lewis give some flexibility as Cadet is not needed and Blount doesn't count for week 1 due to suspension. Has Cadet practiced? Is he PUP eligible?

Jackson has always been one of my more respected opponents. He's a good blocker, obviously can catch the ball, but more importantly for me, he's a RB who WON'T be taken down by the first guy that touches him. While I appreciate what White has done receiving the ball, he STILL gets knocked down by the first guy who hits him. I'd rather have Cadet than him on the roster and Jackson is better than both of them.

Glad you are onboard about James White I aslo thinks he adds nothing to this Team...sure PS candidate.

Cadet already Practiced early in TC!

I'm not sure why. What had has he done exactly other than act like a premadonna and blowing off practice after having one good game?

Well that SI shoot took some time...don't hate Marqui appreciate.

Cut Jackson and name Tyrod Taylor starting QB? What a well run team :D

Taylor has looked really good in preseason. I don't think it was a bad decision, and he gets to start against the Colts so he'll open the season with 300 yards passing and 100 rushing.

I think Cassell and Taylor were about even, but I think Taylor has more upside with mobility.

rather have fred than blount

Is he signed yet?!

sign the Beast!
Surprised it took till Reply #13 to see that! :D

BB hasn't been shy about taking on an aging RB in the past.

It wouldn't surprise me one bit to see Fred on the Pats.

It is intriguing that his stats were better than Vareen's were last year.

I'd bring him in for a workout in a heart beat. It's not like the team is absolutely stacked at the position.
Agree on both points.

I'd kick the tires.

at 34, dunno if there's tread left

I've always liked Jackson, but he always seems to be playing through an injury anymore. He was noticeably slower, last season too. He's the oldest RB in the league. I could get behind signing him if the Patriots didn't have four backs that fill his roll already, but they do.

Dion Lewis & Fred Jackson, upside: 3rd-down backs who also have the ability to be more productive in the running game than Cadet & White; downside: injury risks.

I'm not sure any of our backs can run, catch, and pass block. Fred can do it all at what I'd consider an above average level. If healthy. Also if his legs aren't shot. Sign the beast?

Fred Jackson pass blocking L5 yrs:
443 plays
only 1 sack allowed
9 QB hits
Over 5 yrs! Insane #s, considering QBs.
