Why did the judge call all these guys for 10 mins if there were no arguments given in the proceedings ?

That ****head Mara wasted the court's time. Berman in turn wasted some of Mara's time, and drags his name further into this morass. (You can bet Mara is angry right now.)

Prediction: Berman overturns and orders new arbitration.

Edit: If you are asking why anyone was invited: Berman told them to get back with him today on whether there is a settlement.

The only thing that worries me is this: if Berman already told the parties how he will rule, and he told Brady he needs to settle because he will lose, Brady can't meet the NFL's requirement that he accept the findings in the Wells Report. That is a non-starter to Brady. One would think that the NFL would be more inclined to settle knowing they are going to lose than Brady would be if he had to admit to guilt as part of the settlement. Maybe I'm overthinking this.

It would be correct thinking if the NFL stood to lose anything. If Berman rules in Brady's favor they just appeal, if they lose the appeal that's fine too, they got the Patriots 1st round pick.

Now lets say if the NFL lost Goodell had to spend 6 months in jail. The NFL would have settled with a fine. Lol.

McCann responded to a tweet of mine by saying he doesn't think Judge Berman tipped his hand.

Greeny is an avowed hard core (and frustrated) Jets fan. This is actually quite fair.
While I appreciate his reasonableness, I'd like to hear how he links everything together and finds that something was probably done and what that something was. Perhaps ESPN could have SportsScience show how a team with 8-8 talent can appear in 6 SBs, winning 4 because .23 PSI makes that big a difference.

If you can't tell that's wickedly sarcastic, there's no hope for you.

Dues, there are actually people that believe it's better to think negative....that it brings good luck.

I know people that never predict a Pats win because they think it's bad luck.....I never can understand these people because they're dilusional.

Imagine believing that thinking negative helps bring positive results.

Maybe we should post links that prove...

THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS A JINX

You just ruined it man. You had to go a screw with the balance of Karma. What the hell is wrong with you? :D

But still just being precautionary here.
That's fine.

I want Goodell and Brady in a gladiator ring. First blood would be ok, but there are better options :D (not being serious for any of those that prefer political correctness)

If he is willing to rule this early instead of closer to sept4 when he said in the past to not hold him to the date, I dont know what it means. Maybe he is just ready to get it over with or maybe he wants enough time befor sept4 for an injuction filing to happen if he is ruling against NFLPA.

It means he thinks he's spent way too much time on this stupidity as is, and doesn't want to drag it out any longer.

Also, it means he doesn't want anybody bothering him over the weekend with motions, as might happen if he ruled on Friday 9/4.

Mike Greenberg explains his tweet on his Facebook page:

Reasonableness.

Especially around the time of major elections, I often feel it is the hardest thing to find. People who behave reasonably, who make reasonable decisions, often feel few and far between.

Reasonableness is my explanation for why I'm rooting for Tom Brady's suspension to be overturned by this judge in New York. Not because I think Brady is fully innocent. My sense is - as Ted Wells said - something probably happened and Brady may have been aware of it. I also think he could have been more cooperative in the investigation and, just generally, could have handled all this better from the beginning.

My problem is the reaction. From the outset, the reaction of the league toward Brady's (unproven) crimes has been completely out of proportion to whatever they may actually have been. Had they fined him a hefty sum and written a stem letter, I think they would have more than made their point. This insistence on accepting the findings of the Wells report - when Wells himself acknowledges he doesn't really know what the heck happened - is ridiculous. As are too many of the other things I have heard come from the league side of this dispute.

Look, I'm a Jet fan. I have been all my life. I don't think I have ever rooted for Tom Brady to win a single game in which he's played. But I'm rooting for him now. I think it would be unreasonable to feel otherwise.

Screw him! OK, it's nice that he admits that the NFL overreached and is treating Brady unfairly but when he gratuitously adds "I still think he's guilty" and base that statement on nothing but a biased opinion, that still makes him a d-bag IMO.

Article 46, which has been around for quite a while, has become the bogeyman for the media. It's sort of like the "courts almost never overrule arbitration rulings" line, which has been parroted about a billion times, despite the NFL being on a roll against the NFL in recent court rulings.
This, I think is the thing that is going to sink the MFL. They keep sticking to the "I have the power to rule as I see fit". But the judge will clearly see that there was no due process in the ruling they reached. IMO, the judge has to rule in TB favor. If not, I really have lost all hope of justice in this country. The media will forever sway the way people are judged. Brady being exonerated is everything people have died for in this country. "More probably than not"?, my ***!!!d:mad:

but when he gratuitously adds "I still think he's guilty" and base that statement on nothing but a biased opinion, that still makes him a d-bag IMO.
On reflection, I think he had to do that in order to maintain his employment with ESPN. SADLY, it's smart thinking for a family man.

I dont think you can expect everyone to feel how pats fans feels especially whn they have not invested so much time in reading every column and report and digging every info. Given that whatever he may assume as his opinion, his take on the NFL handling is more than fair than most media guys including in his own network.

It is the MCI, after all, so take it for the toilet paper it is worth:

Gut feeling: Brady wins this one. But the losing side will almost certainly appeal, dragging this on for months/years

Thanks just printed this out so I could pick my dogs morts he dropped on the lawn this morning.
