Dues, there are actually people that believe it's better to think negative....that it brings good luck.

I know people that never predict a Pats win because they think it's bad luck.....I never can understand these people because they're dilusional.

Imagine believing that thinking negative helps bring positive results.

Maybe we should post links that prove...

THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS A JINX

I have no real issue with people who are pessimistic about this. I just don't see why that particularl poster would make that particular post. He's been expecting the worst for months. Why would getting that actually happening impact him at all, at this point? Usually, when you're expecting something for a long time, its actual happening has a muted impact.

Why did the judge call all these guys for 10 mins if there were no arguments given in the proceedings ?

BTW - - if an appeal DOES drag on for many months - - ADVANTAGE BRADY!!!!!!!!!

Have you SEEN the trailers for that Will Smith moviwe coming out in December????

Make the NFL look like the KGB.

I wonder if the judge announced the decision privately to the parties and now will take a day or two to write it up?are these things possible?

Since there was no reason to expect Berman to sway his decision today, his ruling must either be written or decided, there were no more arguments, just settlement talks. I think it's reasonable to think it's already written but most likely decided, and decided a while ago, perhaps before the last actual arguments took place based on Berman attacking the NFL's side.

Lester Munson on ESPN*: "Brady had that lean & hungry look you expect from an obviously guilty man. Simply broken down by the brilliance of the opposition. He should settle on 3 games and be happy."

*the imaginary Lester Munson, i.e., this is sarcasm
Please no more mock Munson posts. He's impossible to parody...it all could be real.

One last ball twist to make sure there was no settlement possibility.

"OK, I'm gonna rule, fellas, now's your last chance if you don't speak up".

I really wish we could get live updates as the judge speaks so we could treat this like a game day thread - who doesn't love the roller coaster of those?

We did already. The actual court proceeding was about 5 minutes.

Mike Greenberg explains his tweet on his Facebook page:

Reasonableness.

Especially around the time of major elections, I often feel it is the hardest thing to find. People who behave reasonably, who make reasonable decisions, often feel few and far between.

Reasonableness is my explanation for why I'm rooting for Tom Brady's suspension to be overturned by this judge in New York. Not because I think Brady is fully innocent. My sense is - as Ted Wells said - something probably happened and Brady may have been aware of it. I also think he could have been more cooperative in the investigation and, just generally, could have handled all this better from the beginning.

My problem is the reaction. From the outset, the reaction of the league toward Brady's (unproven) crimes has been completely out of proportion to whatever they may actually have been. Had they fined him a hefty sum and written a stem letter, I think they would have more than made their point. This insistence on accepting the findings of the Wells report - when Wells himself acknowledges he doesn't really know what the heck happened - is ridiculous. As are too many of the other things I have heard come from the league side of this dispute.

Look, I'm a Jet fan. I have been all my life. I don't think I have ever rooted for Tom Brady to win a single game in which he's played. But I'm rooting for him now. I think it would be unreasonable to feel otherwise.

The only thing that worries me is this: if Berman already told the parties how he will rule, and he told Brady he needs to settle because he will lose, Brady can't meet the NFL's requirement that he accept the findings in the Wells Report. That is a non-starter to Brady. One would think that the NFL would be more inclined to settle knowing they are going to lose than Brady would be if he had to admit to guilt as part of the settlement. Maybe I'm overthinking this.

Even that probably gets him more attention. I think best thing we could do is ignore him til he eventually goes away. He's like the boogie man(or was Jake Bequette?), he only exists if you believe.

that's ok......the thing is that media types don't go away.....they'll keep acting like someone is listening

people go into media because......well.....they don't actually know anything

Let's just say the landscape in American Culture for the NFL Office will be much changed after 30-40 million people see this movie.

Can anyone please let me know what Mort is reporting. I need to know what is 100% untrue.

He's not working today - - it's some kind of Father-Christian-Veteran-Husband holiday.

It is the MCI, after all, so take it for the toilet paper it is worth:

Gut feeling: Brady wins this one. But the losing side will almost certainly appeal, dragging this on for months/years

No Sir, don't like it, don't like it at all..... that the MCI is predicting a win for Brady. Bad JUJU.
