Goodell could trip in the seat belt leaving the van and smash his head in the street

kind of a game face on right there....

Can't blame the guy...I'm sure there was a point when he thought this was all a cute spectacle but he's gotta be pissed at this point, taking time out of his preseason to sit in court across from a man who's doing everything he can to keep his own job at the expense of truth and Brady's legacy.

I'd be furious if I was Brady, he IS the NFL, one of the greatest players ever; Goodell is just a grossly overpaid, incompetent corporate buffoon making boatloads of money because of incredibly skilled football players like Brady.

He has not committed to any specific date. He said he would make an effort to rule on or before 9/4, but did not promise to do so. There is well founded speculation that he will rule today because both parties are there, but Berman himself never said he was going to rule today.

I think it's been said that he might rule today if he believes that it's useless to try and give them one last chance to settle. [To use a metaphor I saw once, the problem with Brady and the NFL is like trying to find an agreement on what to have for dinner when one person wants pizza and the other wants shards of glass laced with anthrax.]

A source in the Tom Brady camp to me on the 3rd district court hearing today: "If we don’t make any progress (Monday) I do expect the decision is going to come pretty quickly. If we don’t settle, I believe a decision will be issued before the (Sept.) 4th."

More like one person wants pizza, the other wants you.

I'll take a settlement of 0 games and a signed football addressed to me only.

The mere thought of Brady accepting any settlement at this point fills me with dread. I cannot figure a single settlement scenario that would come close to not ending up being a TOTAL win for Goodell and his cronies. Not only that, any settlement would kill the likelihood of a defamation case, since Brady would in essence be admitting some level of culpability. I cannot understand why he's even thinking about a settlement when his case is so strong, and gets stronger every day. Why "settlement" is even being speculated on is beyond me.

Why is the judge requesting ANYONE not involved in this mess to be at this hearing?

A guy who last week denied being dragged into it at kraft a request no less.

It doesn't make any sense to me.

My guess is Berman is saying, we are getting nowhere with Goodell, I want to make sure the Owners understand that this is going to go very badly for you unless you settle.

I wonder why Mara is there or why he is a person of interest at all, in this.

Mara is chairman of the executive committee(Not sure that is the right name), which deals with labour issues apparently.

BTW- has anyone posed the question WHY the mere presence of John Mara increase the possibility of there being a settlement. WTF is John Mara going to say that will suddenly make a difference to Tom. "Gee, Tom, we'd really appreciate if you'd help us make this all go away", is NOT going to do it.

All I know about John Mara is that he is reportedly a very nice guy. But I don't recall him ever being mentioned as being one of the more influential owners or him being on any of the important committees. So again I ask, what is John Mara bring to the table that could possibly influence this procedure?

Remember a settlement ends this forever, everything else has the potential to make this shat show continue on and cost everyone involved time and lots and lots of money.
