I know that there is a strong chance that if Berman rules againt TB12 that he will file an appeal which will include another motion to ask for an injunction so he can play. However, that is a choice which has not been made yet. From BB's perspective, everything is an unknown and TB12 could just have a change of heart and say, 'screw it' and sit out the four games.

I agree that the team wants Grapes to get as many reps as possible in the preseason if he needs to start. With that said there is also the possibility that he could get hurt and the backup now needs to play.

With all that said, why not play Lindley a quarter and give him a little bit of a feel of how to run this offense when some fake bullets are flying?

For the coach who has plans for every single reasonable contingency and exposes his team to as many in-game scenarios as possible, it seems a bit uncharacteristic for him not to play Lindley a little in the pre-season.

Thoughts?

We were just waiting to make the last preseason game his show. It was his show all along.

I was thinking about that yesterday, if JimmyG gets injured it's 0-4 and goodbye playoffs, I just think Lindley is not even close to be ready to run this offense, so BB is taking the lesser evil, Jimmy can't split reps with a camp fodder with this uncertainty.

No I think if that happend Mallett would return ASAP Honestly think thats the back backup plan.

The Pats are waiting till the playoffs to unleash the "Triple Lindley".
1st thing I thought of when the signed him. Lindley under center. Blount and Gray behind him in a split-back formation. He jumps on Blounts back, then does a somersault and jumps on Grays back, then Storks back and leaps in the EZ for a TD.

The problem with that is he can't wear cleats...only turf shoes. :p

Trade back for Mallett? Hmmm. Tom Savage who is the 3rd QB there has been in that offense for two years now. He also might be an option.

Because he has a max NE tenure of 4 games, and has a roughly 3% chance of playing in any of them (be it due to Tom being active or lack of injury). I suspect he'll get a few tosses this week just to give him some live practice, but it is more important to give Gops as much time as possible.

If it ever came down to Lindley, I'd rather sign an athletic QB and run an option offense. Lindley may be the worst QB in the NFL.

I think there are worse.

Cadet was a college Qb....Hmmm.

Julian Edel!an........ Has a perfect QB Rating.

We can only hope the rules committee addresses this issue.

Cuz he sucks.

Basically....

Go back and watch through Cardinals-Panthers playoff game and you'll have your answer.

You all remember that commercial where this little kid is talking smack to Cam Newton about taking his job; "I'm just loosening up my arm" ?

I'd rather give that kid playing time rather than Lindley.

I agree. He does suck.

That presents a different question. Why bother even bringing him in?

That was my very first question when they signed him.

I respect Bruce Ariens ability to develop and coach QBs but my god.

IMO better backups then Lindley will be available in the next few'ish days. IMO he was never intended to see any pre-season action. Just an arm in practice until a better one comes around.

Because the only way he sees the field is if Brady's suspension stands and Garoppolo gets hurt, and if he does see the field we probably lose anyway 'cause he's terrible.

Between needing Garoppolo to get ready and needing Brady to stay sharp, there's already a ton of demand on limited snaps.

I think it depends on the Judges ruling this week. If Berman rules in Brady's favor then Lindley gets cut. If Berman rules in NFL's favor, then it's possible Lindley gets extended play in the 4th preseason game.
