@AdamSchefter: First surprise cut of the week: Bears are releasing veteran CB Tim Jennings, per source.

@BradBiggs: #Bears CB Tim Jennings on his release: "They told me they were going to go younger." Said he is looking forward to finding his next team.

Or at least over Robert McClain.

It wouldn't surprise to see Jennings sign with his old ball coach Lovie in TB.

Don't know much about Jennings, but if he's an upgrade over Brown, Fletcher or McClain, he might be worth a look.

Chicago's defense has been trending downward for some time now and both he and Tillman were part of that problem. Jennings is done, IMO.

I say sign him, though we already have Tarrell Brown who is at a similar stage in his career as Jennings. But shoot let's bring him in and cut McClain. Why not!

Jennings was a one hit wonder with the Bears, the year he recorded 8 interceptions. He hasn't come close to replicating that level of production. He is probably better than McClain, Ryan, and Swanson so I wouldn't be opposed to getting some more CB help.

Jenning's contract says @5 million this year and 2 more is what he was supposed to make.
He had a small signing bonus of 3 million .... not a great job by his agent. So maybe he will look for 3-4 million maybe?

EDIT: According to the post above mine by PR ... looks like he's only worth under 2 million.
I'm sure Nick Caserio will place a speculation call ... it's the Patriot way.

I'd say he is only an upgrade at this point over Mcclain. Brown and Fletcher are better imo. Worth a look.

No thank you.

Played in Dallas system before...with OS going down..i bet that's where he ends up

The Bears have one of the worst secondaries in the NFL. Jennings was one of their first cuts, and they didn't cut him because he can still play. Should tell you all you need to know about him. Pats should pass

1. He's not good

2. He's still an upgrade over Logan Ryan.

3. Not sure he's enough of an upgrade to be worth the vet min.

Yes please.

Cut story said he is mostly (strictly ?) a zone CB. While I normally would not have a problem with bringing in camp fodder to compete, particularly if cheap, and if only competing for a spot at the back end (cbs 3 to 6) anyway; in this case I think his age, trend line, and the timeline (preseason gm 3 already done) coupled with a guy who CANT PLAY MAN say that pats should pass on this guy.

Anyone who has seen any of the Bears will let you know, this guy is terrible.
