1. You know what I think. I think that this 10 page thread is more a function of the fans who make a habit of picking players to dump on, as if it somehow makes THEM feel batter about themselves. The list is a long and illustrious one. A lot of pretty good players have been in the very spotlight that Aaron Dobson seems to have found himself, Edelman, Amendola, Wendell, Connolly, Hooman, Wilson, Ryan, etc, etc, etc. "they suck" and my favorite "they're just JAG's.", are just a few remarks from the couch potato coaches and player personnel "experts", who see to know more than the guys who get paid for it.
And while I know it's every fan's right to criticize the team he follows, I have no idea why some people seem to derive pleasure out of this.... and believe it, the kind of invective that we sometimes see cannot be disguised as just constructive criticism. It's just being mean.
2. IMO - after looking at the stills - and some replays, there is plenty of praise and blame to be shared.
a, Dobson ran and excellent route - + A better pass makes this an easy catch
b. Brady's pass took Dobson back into the defender. He has to share the blame, but on the other hand, throwing perfect passes 30 yds isn't easy.
c. Dobson did a good job tracking the ball and high pointing it.
d,. The still showed Dobson with 2 hands on the ball. What it doesn't show was Tillman's also had a hand on the ball as it was being caught. That could have easily caused the bobble
e. Someone like Anquan Boldin would probably have made that catch.
f. If there is a criticism I'd make of Dobson, it would be to work to get his hands stronger. I'd give him tape of Boldin from the 2013 season as an example of what strong hands can mean to a receiver.
3. Someone talked about the lack of WR's who failed with one team and succeeded with another. Almost immediately one came to mind, and that was our own Brandon LaFell. Now I wouldn't call his tenure with the Panthers a "failure', but there certainly weren't many Panther fans who decried his leaving. Nor can you call what LaFell did last season anything BUT a success..
4. 10 pages (so far) is way too much effort being spent by fans for on a receiver who (baring injury) is likely to be the 5th option as a receiver. behind, Gronk, Edelman, Amendola, and LaFell. (6th if you count Chandler)
5. I'm rooting for Dobson, and I'm aware his future could be in doubt. I'm hoping he will be ANOTHER in a loooonnnngggg line of players here, who have been the object of derision and scorn and overcame it.
