Now that Develin is done for the season, who will be the team's fullback?

Its been almost 3 years since he made that post. Only super Die Hard football fans will know about those comments. He was 19 and probably watched one of those very convincing youtube conspiracy videos, and without thinking tweeted about it..

I will give you the benefit of the doubt being in Hawa'ii 5000 miles away but on the East Coast, in the Northeast in particular, it is not forgotten. If the Patriots/Jets/Giants were to sign him, it would be a PR disaster ..And he was 20 when he tweeted the offensive tweet...
**** like that can be forgotten, even with a sensitive subject like Sandy hook.
.
Tell that to a parent who has buried a child. You don't forget and not a day goes by......

I'm sure 11 TD and a 1000 yards and a TD is 2016 Super Bowl would easily make New Englanders forget about those comments years ago. lol

Let me say this as simply as possible for you, Hawaii.

F*CK him.

Perhaps it's a funny little thing for you to write "lol" about it, but those little innocent children were massacred.

Most New Englanders would hope your hero buys a house at the foot of an active volcano.

Now I agree with you in some aspect with your reason NE hasn't signed him, however its not because the team isn't willing to take any risk at all (i.e.. Blount). Its because his very similar comparison to AH. Same position, very similar skill set (better in my opinion) If theres one thing I truly hate about the whole AH fiasco, it what its done to our teams willingness to take risk on players.

You have to be super naive if you think that no Boston reporter has that Lyerla quote ready to whip out in the event that the Pats even sniffed at him..

For hard core folks, not too many environments can make it better.. if it is this broke, probably cannot be fixed...

Do not see him coming back after this injury, he might heal in 6 weeks.. but then there is the PT and subsequent conditioning.

It's not like they need a quarterback, fellas. The best fifteen fullbacks in the world are employed...thats it. Crazy to think about. I'm fairly certain they can find at least an adequate replacement for two months.

He said words, you're acting like he killed children. They are different things.

Yes, Bob.

If he actually killed children I'd be advocating the electric chair.

Everyone can see, I'm only advocating the Patriots don't hire him and that he can go fuc* himself in his ignorance.

So, to quote your post "They are different things".

Watch for the Patriots to grab Tyler Varga, rookie from Yale, when he gets cut by the Colts.

I joked earlier about Varga not being a FB. While I stand by that - I watched him play last night and I would LOVE it if the Pats signed him. The dude is a natural athlete. Muscles on muscles. Fast twitch fibers galore. He can run, block, catch, etc. He's fast (enough), agile, powerful, and skilled. Granted, this was all against third and fourth stringers; but the attributes were undeniable.

Style wise - he reminds me of Bolden, but with a bit more agility, power, vision, and moves. He'd be an upgrade offensively, but who knows how he'd compare on ST.

Yeah. I went to the 2014 Yale-Harvard game and Varga was head and shoulders the best player on the field.

Develin does so many good things it will be difficult to replace everything he does, but as you (and Sciz) point out, Mason could be an absolutely devastating lead blocker as fullback. From what I understand, the reason Mason is such a strong run blocker is his outstanding quickness, strength, and leverage. Any questions about him have to do with his arm length and size, but neither of those would seem to matter as a lead blocking fullback. I still hope he becomes a starter at guard, but until that happens he might be a real weapon as a lead blocker at fullback.

At just under 6'2" and 310 pounds, Mason doesn't have ideal physical traits you look for in a lineman. This has forced him to win with leverage and strength. That's slightly easier for the short guard, but it's a great trait regardless. He's a fantastic drive blocker that stays low and pushes his man forward, opening up big holes. Take a look at this goal line play that resulted in a touchdown - the runner stayed right behind Mason (70)

Hooman or Williams will be our fullback if Josh choosing to run formations needing a fullback.

Carolina just cut this rookie, Lee Ward-Stamford FB/ST 6'0 250

He denied it happened and called the bereaved parents liars... Some things are off limits, that is one of them.. That's one character flaw you don't overcome.

I am not trying to be argumentative (you know way more about football than me), but why is that obvious?

I didn't think Hooman was ever known as a great blocker. Williams, on the other hand, was an excellent blocker in college as a TE (and had good hands to boot), but why would either one of them be an obvious choice over a human bowling ball like Mason, was at a different level when it comes to run blocking?

I always thought that Mason would make a good blocking FB but don't know if he ever caught a pass in his life also Williams seems a logical choice. Hooman would be my other choice. Still a chance they pick up a FB after the cut downs. 4th preseason game probably give some idea who on the roster might fill that role.
