OT: Drew Brees Walks Home After a Practice.

Does this mean there will be another BS controversy about how much tip he gave his delivery person? Last time he got crap for leaving a $3 tip on a $40 bill when he got take out.

Brees seems like a pretty cool guy.

That injury he suffered late in 2005 was pretty scary too. In hindsight it's easy to laugh at Culpepper over Brees, but at that point Brees was a big question mark.
Dr. Andrews gave him a clean bill of health at the time but the Dolphins still weren't sure....Their loss thankfully...

Drew owns a bunch of Jimmy Johns in town so there's a viral/marketing aspect to this too.

But that's Drew and it's also life in N.O. Everything is close together, geographically speaking. It's a town where most people walk to their destinations. On a nice night, your average New Orleanian would probably choose to walk home from work, it's just the way people live here.

The really cool thing is that Drew and his family live in the middle of Uptown, not some gated community behind a security fence. You can just walk right up to his house and see the front door from the street. You can see them going out for a walk or taking the kids to McDonalds or something. Everybody knows where he lives, but nobody ever really bothers him, other than leaving little notes stuck to the fence or the telephone pole. People leave presents and stuff on the walk when they have a baby. It's just a cool community vibe. Most of the time the Saints players and coaches live out in the suburbs or whatever so when the guy bought a house right in town it shows what a part of the community he is.

I once knew an M.D. who took a job that was close enough to his home, then he could go there for lunch! How cool is that!

and Miami signed the wrong one when Brees was a free agent, preferring Culpepper,,

That's the bigger mistake. Rivers is at least in Brees' general vicinity as a talent, and he seemed more assuredly healthy at the time, so it's an understandable choice.

The other huge mistake was San Diego drafting Rivers in the first place, rather than trading down again and accumulating yet more talent at other positions. We're lucky they made that one.

1 hour to walk 2 miles? I'm surprised the fans didn't slow him down even more than that. :)

Yeah, he definitely pulled off "Our QB is walking through our community" with that jaunt. Good for him!

I think the world would be harder for NE if Brees went to the Dolphins or stayed in SD and they believed in him. But I dont think NE would have hated him, maybe winning some times. Brady would still be friends, and there would be a mutual respect. It would have been a funner TB vs PM I think.
But never happened.
