Now that Develin is done for the season, who will be the team's fullback?

A shin pad would probably save his season if the fracture was caused by a shin to shin contact. I just saw one replay of the play, I thought hes ankle popped when he planted in the field and the Carolina player gave him a wrestling takedown to the other side against his foot.

I think RBs, FBs and returners could make use of shin pads, it doesn't hurt their abilities to maneuver and make cuts and it's not a heavy item.

Didn't Hooman end last play gimpy too? Any news there?

Colt Lyerla is playing rugby in France.

Yeah I just noticed after Google-ing his name lol.

I'm sure he'd drop everything and fly to NE if the Pats wanted to bring him in. That's a big if.

Everyone should rest easy knowing that the Pats would never sign Irsay-- er, Lyerla.

49ers drafted an injured fullback last year, but they already have Bruce Miller maybe they could pick him up. I believe Manx was pretty high on the guy.

If you are thinking of Trey Millard, that wasn't me, @mayoclinic and @Wilfork75 amongst others are the guys who liked him most. He's good though and would be an interesting guy. Not sure how much he would do as a pure blocker though, I saw him more as an all-purpose HB guy.

Agree with @strngplyr , they've had plenty of opportunities to make that call and haven't.

Doesn't 6 months seem long? Aren't these things (clean breaks) usually 3 to 4 months? With screws etc?

Edit: Not that it makes much a difference I guess. Unless its on the super short side.

For those suggesting it, Hooman has not been, and never will be a good lead blocker out of the backfield. Hell, his in line blocking seemed worse than develin lined up at wing last year.

Here I was hoping all the te bodies would mean BB would simply take Hooman out behind the woodshed and, well, you know.

Now we have our ONLY fb, and best lead blocker by a mile, AND ST's ace, out for the year for a first down with 6 minutes to go in a god damn preseason game.

Maybe Hooman blew josh for a change on the plane back.

The tweet mentioned the necessity of a rod. Supposing an optimal 3 month bine structure heal time, there will be significant atrophy in his right leg requiring it's own rehab time.

A broke leg typically takes 4-6 month to heal

But then again, I'm no doctor :p

If only Jake Bequette hadn't gone to IR yesterday. He'd have been a lock ;)

I got pretty heated in the gameday thread for the same reason. There was no pressing need for Kettani to be waived since the first cut down isn't until after this game. While same may not agree, Devlin was an integral player in two phases of the game. Losing him late in a meaningless preseason game irks me. His roster spot wasn't in jeopardy and he shouldn't have been out there.

Trey Millard, this is the first thing I thought of. He probably won't make the 49ers 53 because they have Bruce Miller so he will probably become available.

I loved this guy at Oklahoma and he was definitely my draft binkie. He's a good blocker but probably not quite as good as Develin, but he is much more explosive and versatile. He would probably be our most versatile weapon since Hernandez. He can lead block as a FB, run and catch it out of the backfield, line up at TE and even slot WR. Not to mention, he was also Oklahoma's best special teams player.

If we could pick him up, we would have my biggest binkies from 2013 (Michael Williams) and 2014.

I still don't know why Bill kept him in the game so late... that was a bad call on his part

My mistake, Manx. It was last year and I couldn't recall who had said what. I guess Millard won't be a good option then.
