That was my take as well. Fletcher is still on the PUP.

Did Barker get hurt? 2 years ago, Barker spent the entire time as the 3rd center behind Wendell and Connolly on the roster. Now, he seems to be struggling for reps..

Actually he has already said the Krafts called him. Which means he will argue that they lied to him and it is insulting to believe otherwise because they called him and it wasn't him calling the Patriots in search of an apology.
