The worst draft pick of Belichick era, guy was useless

I agree with this. Others like Chad Jackson, Ras-I Dowling, etc. have busted but because of either attitude, injuries, or a combination of the two. Bequette just did not have NFL skills or even NFL backup skills. Not many third round picks lack the physical talent to at least be a role player in the league.

if he DOES come back, he'll have to face Ash....

Warning flags should've been raised in the FO when The Fake didn't lift at either the combine or at his pro day. He claimed that his shoulder had an ouchie, but it was suspected that he didn't want to expose the real reason: his #s at 225 would not have exceeded double digits.

I'm not going to bother listing all of the legitimate top-100 talents still available at 90 when The Fake was selected; suffice it to say that he was not among them anywhere pre-draft. Top-150, maybe.
But this has been Bill's problem throughout the years: he reaches for less-regarded players in early rounds when there were safer, more reliable, more highly-regarded players available, and those reaches almost always never, ever pan out. We can now add The Fake to the trash bin of Bill's draft history.

So what happens to all those pictures he has of Belichick?

That BB trash bin has been proven to be smaller than most in the League, by independent studies and 4 for 6 in 15 seasons. How full to overflowing is your trash bin?

In an extensive interview with ESPN BB describes "Jake's Injury" as "assitis", caused by sitting on wooden or fiberglass benches for extended periods of time, often exacerbated by doing so in inclement or cold weather. The prognosis is poor and the only known cure is to visit well known Dr. Voodoo, who will provide the patient with an assortment of treatments to enhance his football abilities.

I think you mean they wouldn't have exceed single digits, as someone who exceeded double digits would be easily the strongest human being to ever walk the earth. :)

Gotta love the revisionist history. Bequette had a legitimate shoulder injury. It was noted at the combine as part of his physical. And I'm going to call you out on who they should have taken. Let's hear it.. And make sure you include how they did in their interview with the Pats and how they would have worked with the team..

Stone - you ***** and moan about every damn player the Patriots select. Every one of them. It's ridiculous. And it doesn't matter how many times you're proven wrong, you go back and attempt to re-write things so you look like you know what your talking about.. Fact is that you don't and you never have.. So please, just stop with the ridiculousness.

and he then joins our IR? impressive work mr. bequette! he collects a paycheck and is nowhere to be seen. :)

This guy has the best job on Earth. He earns roughly the salary of a doctor for playing a sport, gets access to high level medical attention and top of the line workout equipment, gets to bang hot chicks, gets field level seats to every Patriots game, gets to hang out with the team, and gets to play grab ass with them in the showers. How much better can it get?

That dude also earned the biggest SB ring ever made.

Even better for when Belichick finally gets his hands on those pics Bequette has with him and livestock. Bequette can then pawn that to put a down payment on a modest home in a gated community.

I liked the selection of Bequette in that draft. Had a great 10 yard split and 3 cone. Tore it up pretty good in pass rushing too. At the time, we were screaming for someone to get to the quarterback and they took a stab at it with a raw, high upside defender. I don't fault BB for the pick whatsoever. Bequette climbed the draft charts in those last couple of months and I saw reports of anywhere from the 2nd to the 4th.

Well Said, Sir!! Integrity is a rare and beautiful thing!!

I loved the Pick, myself. On Tape, I got the impression of a kid with mediocre Agility but a tremendous Motor, excellent Power, and impressive Mechanics. And then went he went BatShit at the Combine with those Agility Metrics, I figured that while he lacked Functional Agility, he clearly had Intrinsic Agility.

Oh, well: Not my first Miss, and not my last, I'm quite sure!!

*Not that I'm giving up on'm, you understand.

Don't beat yourself up Brother Grid. :D

As You are no doubt Perfectly Aware, there is a 70-ish % chance of any late 3rd round pick (90th) being a Complete Bust.

When Some Math Incapable Posters watch another man (or woman) flip a coin, they no doubt mutter a Napoleon Dynamitean IDIOT every time they come up tails.

Oh, very nicely put, Brother Zone!! And thank ye, kindly!! All too true!!

Agree with Grid and Patriot Missile. After feeling deflated by the Tavon Wilson pick, the Bequette pick was a real pick me up - looked like really good value in the 3rd round. It's easy to call him a bust now, but I don't remember many being down on the pick back then, in fact, quite the opposite.

Funny how Wilson has done more on the field than Bequette, isn't it..
And yes, many people liked the Bequette pick. Bequette was an ALL-SEC 1st team selection. Had put up 10.5 Sacks that year. So many people felt Bequette was exactly as others had said.. Raw, but with skills to make the team.. He proved most of us wrong. It happens..
