I hope ESPN has a sizzling lawyer's letter from the Patriots no later than Monday morning, with some strong requests for very visible retractions. If ESPN does anything other than comply, I hope the Patriots promptly release that letter to the media.

If done right, this would result in multiple ESPN competitors doing ESPN's retracting for it, more visibly than ESPN would ever have had to.

Good point. However:

I've already said the letter should be more in the form of a request than of a demand, even if in a harsh tone. So I'm covered for small issues like that.
I should have said but didn't that the letter would be to Mort or ESPN, ccing the other, or to both at once.

I lasted for five minutes on WEEI until Gary Tanguay forced me to to change the channel to 98.5. So the two things I got this morning is that Chris Mortensen is a liar and Tanuagy's faux contrarian act is insufferable.

I can't believe I am saying this, but I would rather listen to Bert Breer on 98.5.
