I know there other things going on right now, but Scheffer has announced that Breaux is signing with the Saints. And there was me hoping this announcement was going to be about signing him :)

@caplannfl: 18 teams want to bring in Breaux (6-1, 195) for a visit or workout. He can sign with an NFL team after 2/10.

@caplannfl: Among the teams interested in Breaux: Eagles, Patriots, Texans, Jaguars, Dolphins, Cards, Steelers, Lions, 49ers, Broncos...

So you wanted to see the Pats fined and lose a pick when they announce he's signed, prior to 2/10?

Boy i am angry. Why didnt he sign with pats, oh why. After u posted this thread about him i was so hyped, and now i am reading good things about him in Saints uniform.

underhill: Breaux was 3-0 in one-on-one coverage drills. Corners aren't supposed to be 3-0 in one-on-one coverage drills.

Vaccaro on Breaux: "he's gonna be a superstar"

See, that's one thing I don't get. There's no way in HELL I don't get Breaux if I'm running things.

It's not like outbidding the Saints would've entailed laying $16,000,000 a Year on the kid.

And it's not like he'd be buried on the Depth Chart around here!!

Flash the Cash, Sell the Culture, and Close, baby.

Hes from Louisiana. He was going to attend LSU. There was no way he was leaving Cajun Country.

His contract indicates it seemed like money wasn't the #1 priority. I'm pretty confident BB and the staff sold him the best they could.

Breaux's contract includes the league minimum base salary in each of the three years, according to the NFLPA. His base salary is $435,000 in 2015, $525,000 in 2016 and $615,000 in 2017.

A portion of his 2015 salary -- $138,000, according to a league source -- is guaranteed even if he's released by the team.

Breaux, who joined the Saints after two years in the Canadian Football League, also received a $12,000 signing bonus. Although the signing bonus may seem paltry for a player who had more than a dozen NFL teams interested him, teams have little flexibility in offering big signing bonuses. The $12,000 counts against the the team's cap on bonuses for undrafted free agents in 2015, which was only about $75,000 last year.

You don't know that. He left it to play in the CFL, didn't he?

It's a Career Move: Given the Opportunity to earn a starting Gig and learn from none other than Bill Belichick, the combination of which would give him the maximum Opportunity to excel and to make Millions, I have a difficult time buying your Assertion that he'd pass on all that for Sentimental Reasons.

Grid, the draw to NOLA for a kid named Breaux from Louisiana is very possibly far bigger than an difference in contract amounts. And it could certainly make the Saints more attractive than the Pats, regardless of recent team history, and distort objective career thinking. It is thick down there.

He wouldn't have the opportunity to make millions in New Orleans? How do you know that?

There is no evidence to support your notion that BB didn't sell him hard on his program and the opportunity here but there is evidence that he was born, raised and with the exception of two years in Canada loves the state of Louisiana and New Orleans.

Kind of like the surname Guidry in Lafayette...

Consider Geaux Saints!! Don't you kneaux!! Cajun blood runs deep... there are numerous examples of that suffix in the "Big Easy"....

you mean THE Duron Carter?...oh well, that sheds an entire new light on this guy...oh wait...uh...who the hell is Duron Carter and how does HIS play translate to the NFL as a receiver?

Duron Carter is Cris Carter's fall guy.

Going by the Patriots recent track record in developing cornerbacks I think that would argue against signing with the Patriots.

Well, when he signed with the Saints, the Patriots had one of the most stacked secondaries in football. Breaux probably saw an opportunity for playing time for his hometown team, compared to the probability of sitting behind Revis, Browner, et al up in New England and made the obvious decision. I doubt the Patriots offered him anything more than the league minimum.

I quite clearly and explicitly stated that in my opinion the maximum Opportunity would be here.

You're certainly entitled to disagree.

You misunderstood the context of my original Thesis, as others seem to be doing.

I said that "There's no way in HELL I don't get Breaux if I'm running things."

And if I'm running things, one of my first two Investments are in amalgamating an Hall of Fame Roster of Coaches ~ the best Positional Coaches and Assistant Positional Coaches at every Position.

Worth a look. All i'll say. The CFL has produced some good players over the years so it is not impossible obviously.
