Travaris Cadet looking to "do his job"

I was really high on Cadet when the Patriots got him in the offseason.

At this point though, he's going to have to do some pretty impressive things to dislodge Dion Lewis from the 3rd-down back spot.

This.

You are assuming Cadet is here as just a 3rd down RB.

-He is a core STer on punts and kickoffs
-He runs
-He catches out of the backfield, slot and split wide
-He returns punts and kickoffs

I never saw Cadet vs White vs Lewis

Lewis runs better, catches better, and the Patriots are good on kick returns (Amendola, Blount, McCourty, whoever). Maybe a spot for Cadet opened up as a core special teamer now that Tyms is out.

They already have the best PR in the history of the league (verifiable fact) - I think they're good there.

Like I said. I like Cadet. I just think if the choice is between he and Lewis, Lewis gets the spot.

White can kick rocks for all I care.

So Cadet outmatches White and Lewis when comes to versatility (which we know is a big plus in making the roster)?

I don't agree that Lewis is a better pass catcher than Cadet.

I thought White has done pretty well this preseason actually.

As I contend, it is not between Cadet and Lewis

White (draft pick) and Lewis (better than both of them) means that Cadet needs to pray for injuries.

People are talking like he's already done and not making the team. I think this is at least in some small part due to what Lewis did the other night. I think the verdict is far from in on this one, however. I have a feeling Cadet works himself back into serious consideration. All indications from what I read is that he was having a fairly decent to good camp before being out. He has some ground to make up, but I'm certainly not moving on just yet. Let's hope the team is not either.

White, Cadet, Lewis.... they aren't likely to all make the team.
I agree and posted this sentiment in another thread. Cadet needs to get on the field and show his stuff. Provided he is not completely unimpressive, I see White and Cadet making the team. I like Lewis, especially what I saw the other night, but I just don't see him sticking around unless he has a similar performance in the next game. I think, however, Cadet will be given every opportunity to seize the job back. Indications prior to the injury were that he was having a good camp. I will say that Lewis would be a good element to the KO return team though. I wonder how good Cadet would be in this area . . .

If he is going to do his job he can start by staying healthy.

IMO...I think the sample size for Lewis and Cadet for their careers is so small its hard to make a call either way in regards to catching. Speaking for myself...I didn't give Lewis a chance when camp started....but he wowed me a smidgen against the Saints. IMO he did a better job at catching, running, blocking then White did. Lewis seems like he is the kind of player that "makes things happen" whenever he touches the ball. He is shifty, quick, elusive. I think those traits are very important. IMO he would be a great change-of pace back that would compliment Blount and Gray.

I also think White did well...IMO Lewis did better against the Saint. The next 2 games will be very telling. I am going to have an open mind with Cadet for the next 2 games. He deserves a shot.
