@RapSheet: The #Patriots 1-year deal for WR Reggie Wayne is worth up to nearly $3M, including incentives. Almost $500K up front, source said.

BB must think he's back to his prior form. In Bill we trust.

If that's the case:

Lafell
Wayne
Edelman (slot)
Gronk

Best passing offense in a long time

That workout must have went well.

Well damn. They must have pretty high hopes for him. Surprised he got that much considering there didn't seem to be much interest.

So we have four capable veteran WRs and two capable veteran TEs, none of whom happens to be a paragon of durability. That gives a pretty good chance of Brady having the weapons he needs, all the way through the season.

I wonder if Nelson's injury pushed his price up, considering that the Packers had previously expressed interest in him.

Also curious to see the how much of that "up to $3M" is incentives. If it's mostly incentives, then that makes a lot of sense to me. Rewards the guy if he comes in and plays like a starter, but limits the downside.

BB has now paid four veteran WRs sizeable contracts with guarentees. Says something about how he views Dobson IMO.

Well, headlines like the one about Wayne going to the Patriots as a "business decision" make more sense now.

Packers never called allegedly.

Probably: it would have not been a smart move on the Pats part to let him leave without a contract. Proven talent still on market albeit age, gotta think he can still play in this league been consistent for too long.

This is as fully loaded on offense as we're gonna get. People need to realize that we don't need to have a stud receiver. If you can have 3-4 above average receivers, your #3 and #4 will consistently beat the scrub #3 and #4 cornerbacks of the opposing team. That's the way we've always played; the best receiver is the open receiver. Although, Brady has been forcing it to Gronk prior to last season. To be fair to Brady, Gronk's almost always open.

Well i never thought he would sign for vet min. This is a little more than i thought he would get but not bad.

I am sure his incentives will make the deal fit for the Pats. Probably would need to hit something like 800/900 yards to make his near 3M which i would be okay with.

Edelman, Amendola, Gronk, LaFell, Chandler, Wayne and the 3rd down back TBD (White, Lewis, Cadet) and WR TBD (Dobson, Boyce, Harper). Seems like a pretty decent set of receiving targets barring major injuries.

Edit: Added Amendola as some sharp eyed viewer pointed out that I obviously missed

You have Lewis, Cadet, and White all making the roster together? Is there room for all three?

You cutting or overlooking Amendola?

Think of this. Wayne has played with 3 QBs in his career now (including Brady) and Luck is the worst one.

That must be rare to play with 3 QBs of that level.

Another poster said that the Pats expect LaFell back at practice next week but that was the first I was hearing of that. We don't know about Dobson. They just lost two WR prospects in Tyms and Gibson.

I think the contract represents the level of uncertainty there is at the position after JE11 and DA. $3m is no joke.

Hopefully Chris Harper can make it to PQ.

Boyce is packing his cups and dishes as we speak.
