Greg Bedard on Brady vs Garopollo

I didn't say it to sway anybody, I don't operate like that and it's pretty poor of you to suggest so. All I'm saying is that your dislike for the two I mentioned was pretty irrational and I think your very unreasonable expectations for Garoppolo are just as unreasonable. As for me having to "save face", why would I need to? I won this argument have a dozen posts ago. But as ever, you have to personalise things. Good job.
I think it is irrational to suggest that because I criticize a players performance on the field it equates to disliking them. I have never said anything about them personally to suggest dislike, nor have I about Garoppolo. My opinion on Amendola was money, he is a good depth WR and a good KR, but he is not a great player that merited his original contract. Josh McDaniels, I am not sure what you are talking about, because I seldom if ever post about him. Either way though my history discussing them has nothing to do with this discussion. I could bring up the fact that 3 seasons ago you were in here advocating for Tim Tebow and suggesting he had promise as a QB just like you are Garoppolo right now, but I did not play that card because I am living in current day, you should do the same thing.

**As far as personalizing things, you were the one that went down that road, I did not bring up past behaviors or make assertions about who you dislike.

***I am glad you won the argument, seeing you were the only one involved in an argument, I was just posting from my iPhone enjoying the summer weather not knowing apparently the entire time you were arguing me.

I do not dislike Garoppolo, in fact if you scroll back in the draft forum I mocked him in the 3rd round multiple times and was a huge fan of him, Zach Kerr, Caraun Reid, Donte Moncrief, and Pierre Desir. But he has a lot of work to do before I start advocating for him to replace Tom Brady one day, and if a team was willing to give me a top 20 draft pick for Garoppolo I would make that trade all day and twice on Sundays. I think his ceiling is Tony Romo and without Dez Bryant I am not sure how good that it is.

For the record who won this debate (or in @manxman2601 case this argument) will not be determined until Jimmy Garoppolo is a starting QB in the NFL and we see how he performs, until then this is all hypothetical hopefulness. I could also open up threads about Chris Harper replacing Edelman, Richards replacing McCourty, Flowers replacing Ninkovich, etc. There are always going to be young players who show promise.

Feel free to mention the fact that I liked Tim Tebow (as a FB by the way, not as a QB), I'm not ashamed of it.

Manx just stop, you are making this into something more than it has to be, I like you and think you bring a lot of value to discussions. I thought that was a weak play bringing up Amendola, and I think you know it was too. As far as Garoppolo goes, I think he has promise, but we are far away from this type of discussion and having it now just comes across premature and gives a perception of lacking appreciation for all that Brady has done for this orginizaiton. No fan of the Patriots should ever want to see Brady wearing a different uniform as far as I am concerned.

Stop what? You were the one who brought up Tebow.

Now he starts with the concern trolling.

Why don't you just put the thread on ignore if its very existence hurts your fee-fees so much?

Guys, lets have a truce. I think everyone wants the same thing in the end which is TB #5 + and play until he just cant do it anymore. Maybe JG is the successor, maybe he isnt. But we look primed for another run with a backup who should come in and play to get TB out of meaningless games/minutes.

I was good with everything you said, respected it until this petty move here.

Trolling? So anything you don't agree with is trolling. Nothing hurt my feelings I just don't think a good preseason game by our backup QB merits this fools gold hype. Petty did well for the Jets this past week too, same thing with Savage on the Texans. Are they future starters too?

1. Aside from Josh bloody Boyce, Garoppolo had very few incompletions against the Packers and only missed on four passes against the Saints. I don't know what else you are wanting to see. What sort of improvement beyond completing lots of passes and engineering TD drives and come from behind wins?

Even with his throws to Josh Boyce there has been improvement from last year to this year. Not even Brady6 can argue it.

58% last preseason
76% this preseason

He was also in his limited time during the regular season 70%

If Commissioner Scheisskopf gets his way, BB and Josh are going to have to coach JG up in a hurray.
